Animations!

ive been thinking.... well my work for NS is done, all my animations are in-game and working the way the should... but hell! i still want keep animating for it!

and you guys are making new models for NS so.... model + animator without nothing to do = animated model!

hehe so! if you made a model that dosent looks right with the standard NS animations i would love to make new animations for it!

    sorry for this kinda offtopic post, but would you happen to have the v_ hands in .max format or anything like that? id like to get my hands dirty in NS animation, but im too lazy to jump through the hoops to get the hands from .mdl into max =D

    it would be good for both.... for me and for the modeler... the modeler would have hes model animated and released.... and i would have more animations in my history for a future carrer <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i use 3D studio Max R4.2
    i can import almost all kinds of 3d files.. but for just for sure.... ill be using *.3ds files

    I'm going to be doing animation at Glamorgan Art & Design Technology Centre next year at degree level, from which people have gone on to work for Rare making Goldeneye/Perfect Dark, and Walking With Dinosaurs. It's a really cool place.

    Anyway, I am really impressed with the animations in NS, how long have you been doing it?
    Did you make the models too?
    Also, you know that trailer that came out, when the door opens and the three marines walked in... did you do that too??

    Okay, I'm going to answer some of this stuff. Hugo can add anything I don't include or get right. This pertains only to the player models, and doesn't include buildings and view models. If anyone wants to know who worked on that stuff I'd be happy to let them know as well.

    The majority of the player models were modeled by Beaner.

    I modeled the heavy marine, and concepted and textured all the player models.

    Def One did the entire prerendered opening sequence himself (lighting, scenery, animations). He also did a large amount of animations for the game including the level 3 and light marine.

    Mojo animated the Skulk.

    Hugo animated the Fade and the Onos. He animated the Heavy marine along with Def One.

    Guy Rabiller animated the Gorge.

    well im glad you like the animations! I, def_one, MOJO and smedic been working hard on the animations!

    no i dint do any models in NS the only thing i did was animate the FADE, ONOs, HEAVY MARINE, and like 2 or 3 animations for LERK. i dont really know who did the models but i can say that their mesh and skin its just awesome! i really enjoyed to animate them.
    from what i know def_one did all the view model's animations and LERK (also the promotional video, i dint worked on it), MOJO did the SKULK and the first version of FADE, ONOs and heavy marine. SMEDIC did the gorge and structure animations i think. i dont know if this is right so i would like to sorry if anything above is wrong.

    as for how long ive been doin it.. well for NS i started animating like a month before the release. about my whole life ive been animating since i was 8 years old <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (STOP MOTION not 3d) ive been animating 3d models for like 3 years now (WITH NO TRAINING just a basic course on SENAC about 3d modeling/animations principles)

    Onos is hands down my favorite animated thing in Half Life. Go look at him in HLMV. Amazing.

    Hugo - sorry to be a pain.

    Those animations as seen on your site are really amazing - but it looks like they havent transfered properly into the game as they dont look that good. Are there any plans to smooth them out?
