Edited first post to make the thread more newbie-friendly. All of the basic skills are now explained on the first page. The Mid-Air Cancel and some of its uses are also explained and given tenative names. The tactics which follow it's explaination are simply a few suggestions as to how one can combine the various techniques together to form a battle strategy.
I'd like to suggest to split Mountain-climbing into both basic (wall-hanging) and advanced (mountain climbing) Essentially, wall-hanging is just wall-hanging. Mountain climbing is the technique to climb higher ground without the use of wall-running.
Generally people like to skip the basics bit once they've played the game a bit. I don't think we want people skipping a technique that lets them preserve EXP from teh holes of dewm (Yes it's possible to scale the walls across the pits in Battle Arena)

hey tranq, thanks for mentioning that air-slashing cancels animations and cooldowns... I'm now able to take multiple oppoents in sword-only games now because of that lil tidbit :D

<b>extra info edit:</b> if you air slash going past them to the side enough then their blocks can't stun you for some reason; I often find myself slashing past instead of through now to stop me being blocked to a halt and it seems to really annoy the crowds when they can't catch you anymore while you slowly slice them all to death :D

I was playing for a while last night with Con, Slayer, Thansal, and Unknowing... Unfortunately my internet killed itself, and so I couldn't continue playing. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> I did find out that 99 is the max amount of combos you can get though... (I got that many on Con since everyone was frozen when my internet died... It was stupid, but a good way to waste a little time.)
I wouldn't advise playing right at the moment of me posting this because the main servers seem to have picked up some seeerious lag problems effecting all the games :s
On the bright side, it did clear up just long enough for me and rave to have a 1 on 1 fight which was fun :D
Yeah servers are having SERIOUS issues with data transmission. This means really slow spawn times, delayed kill messages and the like. Not fun at all I might add.
Well, at least Gem know I play really recklessly. However, I get lots of EXP in Gladiator matches that way <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And a question before I consider buying Kodachis....does the damage apply for only one blade, or for both blades? What I'm asking is wether each hit with ONE of the blades hits for the listed damage. Cause if it does, I might buy it. All I know is that Massive Strikes done by Kodachis hurt. A lot.

Kodachi dmg is per sword. so yess, massive attack is 6x that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> and the combo for kodachi is very fast (though only the last swing is double hit)

I'm going to get the lightweight dagger once I reach level 18... It's delay is much smaller, and it's the lightest dagger... I also need to get the next rifle because I think it's got better accuracy.
Actually you can use the dagger for Gladiator combat. Start with a Massive Strike, then follow up with secondaries. Some players don't know how to spam jump when they're hit by it. I know I was having trouble with those kinds of players before I knew about the recovery tricks.
But other than that, it's actually pretty crappy for Gladiator.
Th game is fun. I really can't stand gladiator mode. FFA is just a spamfest and in most 1v1 I end up having to try and air-juggle Shifty McLet'sHaveAStare-DownStyleBlockingContest.
I <3 my level 20 outfit. 100 weight exactly, always nice when you can get it even. all the lighter lvl 20 armor, 18 rifle, 13 uzis, 4 grenades, 2 +8 health rings. works like a charm.
no melee and I don't miss it. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> well, I have my kodechi to switch in for gladiator mode. but really, when forced to choose 2 out of 3 of: awesome close-range DPS uzis, infinite range high damage rifle, and a weapon you can only use at arm's length, leaves you open to attack if you miss, and most people know how to avoid anyway, I'll take the guns. :> that said, I do hope I can eventually make room for a dagger for those surprise knockdowns mid-battle.
maybe you can do some nifty air moves with melee, but really, I prefer the roll to the dash any day. roll is as fast as dash (someone charging with melee + you rolling back and shooting = dead melee), roll makes your hitbox smaller, you can shoot while rolling... what more do you want =D
btw, now that the servers aren't so crowded, do we have an 'official' server we can hope to find each other in? wanna make it 3?

Technically it's three. I'm basically idling in the irc channel and the teamspeak server, and I'm sure I will turn on teamspeak before I go play anytime I do so people can contact me easier....
Teamspeak info is in the IRC channel... Server 3 has already basically been chosen by us as the one we go in...
waii! not that I ever suffered from it personally but the dev team found a bug that was causing some of the 999 errors! They're patching it up tomorrow sometime so anyone who can't play because they get 999 should give it a go once the patch is out :3

The trick behind the knife is actually pretty simple, if the opponent is knocked down anyways.
Knock em down, go around to their backs, and commence the backstabbing!
