Not referring to admin or rcon access.
Is it possible to check a player's IP ingame if you do NOT have admin or rcon access? If it is, how do you do this?
Granted there are methods for checking internet user's IPs but I am asking about doing it while playing NS.

And there shouldn't be. Back in the bad-old-days, if some jerk found out your IP, they'd start ICMPing you to mess up your ping times and knock you off the server.
Nobody needs to know a player's IP except an admin.

I am in total agreement with you. I just want to confirm it canNOT be checked ingame by anyone other than an admin or someone with rcon access.
Deffinately, to put it politely there is a large asshat player base around that would abuse it regularily.
Exactly, which only shows a player's SteamID.
Oh there's reasons ... bad ones. LOL

Your an insatiably dodgy guy, I've got my evil eye on you
The operators of any server that takes logs have it, NS forums admins as well as the admins for any other forums you may have joined have it, pretty much anyone who can see you online can get it. Really, it's hard to prevent from getting out, but the last thing we need is for IPs to be openly shared so all the script kiddies can enter pretty IPs into thier downloadahacks.
I'd say it's unanimous to date that NO one feels IPs should be publicly displayed. My oppinion is the server ops have access to this info (via server logs) for obvious reason/s, and it's NOT meant to be shared with the playerbase as the potential exists where it could (and would) be abused.

No good reasons for having it, plenty of bad reasons, it seems quite simple to me. Who wants to make this plugin, so we can complain to them directly?

The plugin has already been created whereas a player's IP would be publicly displayed. I locked the thread and deleted the sma to prevent it's release.
Apparently, the Extralevels experience has convinced Depot that server admins may not properly configure plugins, especially when it comes to #defines inside the SMA. #defines, as opposed to cvars, can be used to increase performance, but they seem to be too sophisticated for some.

The majority of server ops don't even open an sma prior to compiling it - hence the necessity for the plugin's author to set all default cvars/defines responsibly.
This however is not why the thread was locked and the sma removed, as already explained.
Uh, yeah.

I've reduced the evilness of my eye, its now just pink
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
no there isn't
most of you are so grossly misinformed that it's mind-boggling
people can't do jack with your ip address other than flood you or exploit vulnerabilites on your system
the first is only possible if they have a large botnet and are dedicated to bringing you down (and guess what? i don't think a single person cares enough about anyone posting in this thread to try to take out their internet connection)
the second is only possible if you're too dimwitted to update your respective operating systems when service packs and/or patches are released, in which case you deserve to get rooted
oh no here is my ip address please don't hack me! 24.222.179.143
Point is the server op should be the only person with access to it.
