Can't really help you on the first count, as I don't use Focus myself...

    B) Jetpackers are harder to hit due to their manuverability, you need to either be very preditive of your attacks, or find some way of neutralising their movement abilities sufficently enough for you to kill them...

    C) Using the stock cursor for the GL is easy, you line up the target, adjust for distance, then fire away. 4 grenade hits is enough to take out several non-DC'd OCs. 4 hits, and 9 quick pistol shots will take down a DC, 4 grenades, 10 pistol shots, and a few stabs is enough to kill an RT. The problem with the stock cursor is that it doesn't really show you the width of the grenade, making WoL takedowns harder to do. I personally use the excellent Knife Gaming pack, but only for the settings, and the crosshairs, which replaces the GL trajectory one, with a single dot, the width of the grenade, making those gamebreaking WoL cleanups MUCH easier.

If you want to join me, i'll be in the Kryptic Korps server most nights, teaching new players how to play. I'd recommend that you join us, as the admins are very unforgiving of skilled players who just harvest kills. If you start showing incredible promise, listen to the admins, they will tell you to take a back seat approch in the team, allowing you to practise your permagorge skills...

Server IP address is 217.158.150.43:27055, keep an eye out for me, [CBL Staff] Patch (Adam), i'll be the one skulking at the top of the scoreboard as aliens, as all I ever do is gorge...

Is that server open for everyone? If so I'll probably drop by. There must be more to life than my current favourite combo. (Skulk [love it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->] with Cel and Cloaking)

Oh a related note, I really HATE focus. But them I'm a bite spammer. Just hold 'fire' and hope for the best. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

To use focus, you need to take the time to aim and make sure your close enough for each attack.

Countering jetpacks (in ns_) has to be done as a team, need lerks to spore/umbra/bite, oc's if you can, leaping skulks, and of course web if thats available. May have to somewhat predict thier movement/landing to get them. Generally it is very difficult, if not impossible to stop jp with only 1 hive aliens, the proto is the game ender in that respect.

The GL just takes practise to learn the arc grenades fly at. It's only useful to destroy buildings, get lekrs/gorges in vents, and supress skulks. A marine with a GL will almost definately need marines to cover him whilst assaulting a hive.

crate, the Krytic server is open to everyone, but prefers people who are actually learning the game, there are enough experienced players there at the moment, to help everyone out.

N 3, I second that notion, the amount of times I have been killed trying to break a WoL, after my team have just gone and tried to rush somewhere else, despite me being a defend waypoint is getting stupid. If you see someone with a grenade launcher you MUST protect them. 20 res is a lot to lose just because you decided that today is not your day for teamwork...

Well, you could probably count the number of NS games I've played on your fingers without too much trouble, so I'd say I'm still learning. I might dop by and see how I do. At least I know I won't get 'OMG you nub' comments there.

You can always notify people that your still learning when you join game, this can save comm spending xx amount of res when your not sure what to do on a given task, or aliens can advice best build places etc...

And to all those that call you a nub because of it, ignore the nub callers, everyone has to start somewhere, and being willing to learn is good in my book <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Patch gave a pretty good explanation for the GL, I'll try to explain focus + taking on jpers a bit...both in 1 (focus is excellent for taking down jpers).

He has to land. I usually aim for the spot they land (with some form of fast movemend like: fly, blink, leap, charge, whatever) and hit attack once, then switch to my movement key again and get away from him. As a fade or onos 2 hits take him down, as a skulk 3 (2 & a para ? not sure), as a lerk it's better not to get focus and bite him twice in mid-air as he reloads, if he has an hmg keep moving until his clip is empty (lvl 3 hmg = death), if he has a shotgun try to get around him (lvl 3 = 1 shot I think). As a gorge...run...just web him up and run, or if you really want to and have adrenaline: web - spit - repeat.

Patch what's that GL crosshair you speak of ? (too lazy to look for it myself)

    Hope it helps.

The eniter Knife Gaming pack can be found at <a href='http://www.knifegaming.com/index.php?id=media/files' target='_blank'>the Knife Gaming files page</a>...<a href='http://www.knifegaming.com/media/files/knifegamingnspackv1.zip' target='_blank'>(Direct Download Link)</a>.

Just make sure that you find the userconfig.cfg file, and change the name from "Knifefan" to what ever you normally are called...(if you use the config file)

I actually had a different crosshair pack installed before, again from Knife Gaming, which was Fana's White Dot Pack <a href='http://www.knifegaming.com/media/files/whitedot.zip' target='_blank'>(Direct Download Link)</a>

Install them, and using the Grenade Launcher will be much easier...

    A) Im having big problems using focus as all aliens lifeforms, espiecially lerk and fade.

With focus, you want to, as always minimize time before marine contacti (ie. not going down a long hallway). You need to aim you hits, as they take so long to recharge. As a skulk making first bite is key. If you don't get it, and it is viable to para and get out, then get out. After the first hit, hop around a bit and evade, while keeping in close with the rine, then re-aim, and bite. As a lerk or fade, once again aim your bite/swipe. Then regardless of whether you hit, blink/fly away (around a corner, crate or some such.) Then rinse and repeat while you have the hp.

    B) The key to hitting jpers is getting them on their way down. They tend to land in the same spots over and over again. Kinda hang out around there (moving around, of course). Usually with knockback, you can get a couple of bites in. If you have leap, once again leap at them on their way down to where they will be.

    C) Using the gl, typically you don't want to lob grenades, rather skip them along the ground. If skulks are coming towards you, skip the grenades along the ground in their path. Ofter, you will get direct hits. Also, put the grenades to where they are going, not where they are. For example, if 5 skulks are incoming towards your position, skip one towards them, then one or two right where you are and back (quickly away) while doing this. If a fade only at the doorway where they will be leaving. Onos, you can just hit them directly. Oh yes, and as always, go in a group.

    Hope that helps.
