So Uhh, Resupply

How exactly does it work? I've generally avoided it (in CO) because I was unsure if it slowly increased your ammo over time, or if walking into a fellow marine gave them a small ammo boost or if you could drop ammo packs (no clue how to do that either, if thats the case. ;)) for yourself/marines. I did a quick search and it popped up several topics, pciking 'em randomly seemed to just be commenting on things like when you should go for it, rather than how it works and how to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA. :)

Resupply keeps you above a certain low point in ammo.. and it gives you medpacks if you have low health. It does this at regular intervals, and for an infinant amount of time. Pretty much everyone should get this, it keeps you alive from the spores, and saves your life when fighting skulks sometimes. (Especially good if you use a GL or HMG because they just suck that ammo.)

Thanks a lot for clearing that up. Appreciate it.

Guess that means it'll be another thing to get before I buy a shotty. :o

You don't really have to get it before you get a shotty.

Generally what I do is use my LMG ammo until I run out completely, then I get a shotty, which means I no longer need LMG ammo. Then I get resupply

I tend to buy a Welder (any server with stats generally has me as Golden Wrench. No clue why I'm addicted to welding but it's free exp and I'm helping keep both the structures and marines alive sooo...), then MT, then go for a Shotty, after that I hit up Heavy Armour (although I try and avoid it if the server has less than 8 or 10 people). After that I'm good to go. Might add Resupply just after MT though.

Oh, to save making a new thread, how so I set Waypoints as the Comm? Read a guide on here (and played the NS Tutorial level) and it didn't mention it. I'm probably missing something embarrassingly obvious, but I guess thats why I'm in the newbs section.

Drag a box around a bunch of marines, or click on them, just as if they were small windows icons moving around. Then rightclick somewhere on the ground to give them a move waypoint. Waypoints are context-sensitive, so if you rightclick on a building it might give a Guard waypoint, or Weld in case the building is damaged(at least I think it does that automatically).
There's also supposed to be a Pick up Equipment waypoint, but it's fairly elusive without plugins...

Oh.... Heh, y'know, I've been told to right click, so I spend 5 minutes clicking away thinking someone was having a laugh with me. Didn't realise you had to actually select Marines. Thanks.

Any way to select them all at once, even if they're seperated and you can't quickly drag and select?

Yup. See that icon of a marine with a circle around him at the top and center of your screen? It is in fact a button and not an icon, which you can click on to select all marines on the map. Possibly only those marines that are currently alive though, I'm not sure.

EDIT: Oh, and while having something selected you can hold 'Ctrl' and hit '1' to designate the selected object(s) as Squad 1. You can at any point after this hit 1(without holding any other buttons) to select anything that you had selected when you designated them as squad 1.
This goes for 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well.

Squad 5 is best. You can put marines in it as a reward for doing something spectacular. At least until you want them to do something.

One more thing; while having a squad selected you can hit it's corresponding number once again to zoom to it. I think it zooms to the center of the squad though and not to any particular member, so if you have half of the squad on one side of the map and the other half on the other side, your view will move to the center of the map... usually they stick together though.

    Thanks.

This is the second time I've had Squad 5 refered to as 'special'. Any reason or is it just a 'all the cool kids like Squad 5' kinda thing?

Oh, I'm guessing that if you want to assign an extra marine to a pre-existing group, you tap (for example) '1', then shift-select the marine? Like the grouping system in Homeworld (for those of you that have played it).

But they leap and bounce so damned much. I can nail them if I catch 'em at a distance, but if they get close, I almost invariably die.

    Dodge.

I know it sounds lame but that's what you need to do, get in their side.
