i think it fits the slot well ,both weapons ar similar in size weight & calibre.
the only thing ive added is a silencer ive made to match a picture i found some time back.

yes, i dare to challenge your "knowledge".. (but i dont see where the challenge would be)
Because that is a AKS74U Krinkov style muzzle brake, and not a Sound suppressor/Silencer.. the only thing this one would suppress would be the recoil, so the right therm would be muzzle brake or Compensator.
A muzzle brake is a device that is affixed to the muzzle of a firearm, and which redirects propellant gases to either counter the recoil of the gun, or to prevent the muzzle from climbing during rapid fire. They are very useful for combat.
Muzzle brakes are simple in concept. One of the simplest designs can be found on US 90mm tank guns, which consisted of a small length of tubing mounted at right angles to the end of the barrel. As the shell left the barrel the gasses would rush around it, hitting the inside "front" of this tube, pushing it, and thus the gun as a whole, forward.
Brakes more typically consist of a small length of tubing "fit over" the end of the barrel, pointing in the same direction. Slits or holes are cut into the tube, angled toward the rear of the gun. When a round is fired there is a brief period in which the bullet is at the end of the brake, but not yet exited. During this time the gasses pushing the round escape through the holes to the rear, countering the recoil.
The major disadvantage to using this style of muzzle brake is the fact that they necessarily increase the noise level of the report dramatically; generally, the more effective the muzzle brake is, the louder it will be. Brakes often also slightly decrease the accuracy of the round, as turbulence from the escaping gasses affects the trajectory.
the AKS74U silencer (wich fits actually on every assault rifle of the ak series) is way bigger than the MB-Flash hider.Your common sense should have told you that a sonic suppressor of the size of the AKS74U muzzle brake would be rather use and effectless. Its simple physics...
Newton's law says (to paraphrase) that for every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction. Recoil (kick) is the rifle's reaction to the action of the bullet being accelerated down the rifle barrel. Recoil is caused by two factors. The first is the bullet itself, which cannot be interfered with. The second is the expanding powder gasses that are pushing the bullet and must also exit the barrel. Muzzle brakes reduce recoil by diverting part of these gasses to the side so that they do not add to the rearward recoil.
A properly designed muzzle brake can significantly reduce recoil. The actual effectiveness depends to an extent on the cartridge for which the rifle is chambered.
The bullet never touches this type of muzzle brake, simply passing through the muzzle brake tube as it leaves the barrel. Some of the expanding powder gas pushing the bullet also passes through the center of the muzzle brake and exits the barrel in a normal manner. But a considerable percentage of the escaping gas finds its way through the slots of the muzzle brake and is deflected outward and at an angle to the rear. This is how these devices reduce recoil. They do work, it is simple physics.
There is another type of muzzle brake. These are "installed" by porting (drilling or cutting angled holes or slots into) the barrel itself. Such brakes avoid the added length and the slight bulge at the end of the barrel of a screw-on muzzle brake. They are a neater installation and cannot loosen with use. On the other hand, they slightly reduce bullet velocity, tend to collect fouling, make the barrel more difficult to clean, and, most importantly, cannot be removed.
If the advantage of muzzle brakes is reduced recoil, the disadvantage is increased muzzle blast. As always, in the real world, there is no free lunch. The increase in muzzle blast with these devices can be literally deafening, even for shooters wearing hearing protection.
The muzzle blast from a powerful muzzle brake equipped rifle is so loud that even with hearing protection the shooter risks suffering some permanent hearing damage after a few shots. Earmuff type hearing protectors typically reduce noise by about 25 dB. A muzzle brake equipped magnum rifle (like a .300 or .338 Magnum) produces a sound pressure level (spl) in the 130-dB range, according to reports I have read. Thus the spl inside the hearing protector is in excess of 100 dB, a potentially damaging level.
to mount a silencer on the ak74 you have to remove the muzzle brake
<img src='http://www.softair.arcoefrecce.it/fotosoft/11977s.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
and then you put the silencer on its place.
The Barrett m82a1 .50 semiautomatic rifle comes standard with a muzzle break.Due to the recoil of fireing a .50 rifle without a muzzle break,barrett has gone to great lengths to make one of the best muzzle breaks ever!.50 or not.But the best muzzle break,so I heard,for .50's belongs to the armalite <a href='http://www.armalite.com/sales/catalog/rifles/ar50.htm' target='_blank'>AR 50</a>
I also have a modified SVD barrel and muzzle break mounted on my maudi (excellent AK-47 clone...pratically a ak-47 in itself,it's made with russian machines useing russian parts with russian trained personel in egypt) It makes a huge difference at the range...even though new comers hardly recognise it for an AK any more <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> my maudi...when gun customization goes wrong...
also,I do beleive the barrett m82a1 has a silencer attachment also...as a muzzle break completely disreguards what a silencer does,you have to remove the muzzle break.
*applauds*
dont we call that a "flash HIDER"?
dont we call that a "flash HIDER"? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
yes, the term "flash brake" does not even exist. and marsupial is wrong.
because the krinkov muzzle piece was mainly concepted as muzzle brake , because of the short barrell of the aks74u, the krinkov muzzle brake is very critical to keep the reload cycle working..
the ak74 flash hider looks in fact like that (im not talking about the shorter aks74u, you cant operate the shorter variant with a flash hider)
<img src='http://www.vectorarms.com/myweb2/Accessories/Muzzle_Web.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
as you can see it got huge ports wich deflect the combustion gases sideways away from your field of view.
the krinkov got a small single bore on top wich deflects the gases to the top, like a small ....jet engine (newtons 3rd axiom), to push the weapon down on rapid fire.
<img src='http://www.sksparts.com/Krinkov%20copy.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
a flash hider does not do this.and in fact the krinkov produces relative big muzzle flash, the cone shaped end directs the blast a bit more to the front, away from the shooter . but its still bigger than the ak47 or 74 muzzleflash for example, so i would dont talk of a flash hider here.
the aks74u would not even work with an attached flash hider, because its barrell is to short. the Krinkov style muzzle break allows the action to cycle. because of the shorter barrel length of the rifle, the gasses escape to fast and don't allow the gas operated reloading mechanism to chamber a new round. the Krinkov muzzle brake is mainly used to trap-hold back the gas till enough pressure or better "volume" is built up to allow the gas piston to operate and to cycle the reload, in the same time a part of the high pressure combustion gas escapes through the small bore on the top, to compensate the raise of the muzzle. this all happens behind the projectile when it enters the muzzle break after firing. when the "bullet" is leaving the muzzle break, the huge pressure built up in the brake chamber, does not just disappear. it leaves the brake on the same way as the projectile, and creates this huge muzzle blast, wich have to be directed to the front with this coned end, like mentioned before.
this krinkov muzzle end does not have any characteristics of a flash hider. its the fault of some gun nut rednecks that it is called "flash hider" . even some shops wich should know it better sell them as flash hider..... they are not really alowed in most places, because they enable to modify your regular length ak to shortend , more concealable assault rifle, thats why they call it a "flash hider". those guys should better give their licence back...
