Listen To Me, I Know Everything About Everything.

(Especially the developers. Trust me.)

Developers, you'd better listen to what i say! Oh yes! You had better! You have no choice anyway! There are millions of me!

Why am I contacting you? It's simple really.

I've been getting killed playing Natural Predator recently, and it's due to a number of things, which you shall surely hear about a hundred thousand times over until you do what I say, and not what you think you should. Here goes.

Players are doing things that I can't, because they play the game more than I do, are simply more intelligent and have better and faster hand-eye coordination, and spend time learning the more complex skills and tricks in the game. This pisses me off. Please skill limit them by doing the following.

a: remove bunnyhopping, however slight the impact is. This is difficult to do and even though it has a minimal impact, often I get killed when I see people doing it. This makes me really mad. Maybe I can win more if it's banned.

b: Make all guns much more innacurate, to the point where aiming ability counts for almost nothing. I would really like it if all guns spat bullets very unpredictably, and in a wide spread. This way, even if someone who is shooting me has their crosshair carefully over me for the entire duration of a firefight, they may miss me continously, and I might get lucky and kill them even though I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a laser guided missile.

c: Make player speed much lower. I am sick of people using their strafing abilities and level knowledge to outmove, outsmart, and outdodge me. It would make the game a lot more fun if people were at walking speed, once again lowering the dexterity requirements in the game. Having people strafing my bullets when I'm ducking trying to shoot them (strafing is too hard) really ruins my day.

d: Please ban scripting, however slight. Make everything as manual and slow to do as possible. There are players out there who have put together scripts to raise the standard skill levels of gameplay to a higher level. Sort of like teamplay, and weapon switching in the quake days.

e: Golden rule: Realism is always more important than fun. Remember that whenever I die, if it is not "realistic", I will let you know that whatever unrealistic thing caused my death, and point out that it should be removed from the game.

f: Please remove absolutely any console command (personal preference setting) that might allow someone to customise the game to their liking. Even if it hardly impacts gameplay at all, there's a remote possibiliy that this might be causing someone to kill me slightly more. Please fix this.
In general, please remove anything that requires time to learn, or any sort of mental ability to carry out.

For every player that truly understands your game, and has an appreciation for climbing the ladder of skill and understanding, there are a thousand of *ME*.
*I* make up the majority of your fan base. You had better listen to *me*, because soon *I*'ll be all you'll hear.

For every well worded, thoroughly thought out post, *I* will be there to deliver a caps lock reply.

Oh, and PS: your game is completely unbalanced. I am not an elite player who knows the game inside out and has played in clan wars with equally skilled teammates versus an equally skilled enemy team who we have played with on both races on all of the maps to make a rational, logical decision, but trust me. You're wrong and I'm right, the game is unbalanced.

LOL! Before you get flamed, let me say that I appreciate this guy's unadulterated opinion!! G0g0g0g0! I also have that nagging thought that there is a sarcastic note to this. Hmm...

    i totally agree...

all those aliens jump sooo high. thats not realistic. and they move so fast. i think they should have a BIG RED BULLSEYE ON THEM AND MOVE SLOWER!

that and they errr... are too powerful.

Before you all abuse me, it's a purely sarcastic message. It's some semi-light humour with a serious message to convey. It's sad that I'm already seeing the type of behaivour outlined in the demonstration above, but what can you do.

I just hope too many people don't accidently take my message seriously.

That is the funniest thing I have read so far on these forums.

I agree, er I don't agree, er...... I agree with your sarcasm.

    Bah:

    You're Right!

only point i don't agree with (in a backward sort of way) is that bunnyhopping SHOULD be banned. It's a stupid bug in the HL engine. Whereas rocket jumping and conc jumping started out as exploits they were eventually accepted and added more depth to the game.

The difference between rocket jumping and bunny hopping however, is that rocket jumping HURTS you, there is some sort of disadvantage. it makes you decide "do i really want to do this now? is it worth it?"

Bunny hopping has no real disadvantage, and it ruins the way the game is played. If the game was MENT to have people running 5 gazzillion miles an hour the player speed would have been set there.

DarkAngel is right though. We're already developing a core community of these sorts of people: reactionaries, the online equivalent of Luddites, who suggest obscenely backwards balance/configuration changes. The sorts of people who think playing with "hud_fastswitch 0" means you have more skill.

Then, of course, every time the game is changed they will sit around here and in mIRC talking about how much better the game used to be, before all the changes/weapons/balances ruined it. These are the sorts of people who think bugs give a game "character".

Boo urns; all I gotta say. Boo urns.

That's to classic...and to funny not to notice. I do agree though...to many bloody threads all over written like that...bloody annoying. Damn Noob's who can't or won't learn and come here to whine and ruin everyone else's good time. I wish there was something we could do about them all but...so it goes. If nothing else...I wish they would read this thread first.

I agree. This post should be stickied. I've seen countless mods & games ruined by the loud-clueless-majority effect.. Would be a shame for NS to go the same way.

When you die, in real life you dont "respawn" you stay dead.

So, When you die server kicks and bans you since you died there. Game over man.

I enjoyed this thread. Even the posts of whom didn't get it.
It doesn't meet sticky requirements, but I doubt we'll let this out of our sights for a while.

DarkAngel, if you didn't live in Aus, I'd catch a game with you.

Don't forget the most important rule of all:

Requiring teamwork ruins my chances of single-handedly dominating the game with my 1337 skillz. As such, please remove the commander and let all the structures and weapons be built by everyone. I'm sure that eight players working on their own with no direction will do just fine building a solid, organized set of buildings and working together to defeat the aliens!

    agree.

If you've ever seen bunnyhopping exploited to its full potential, you'll know what sort of ridiculous impact it has on the game.

    Very well done!!!

Since the Marine commander has way too much time on his hand, how about changing the womans voice in the command console to a high piched naisly southern drawl begging for shotguns ever 20 seconds, this should add a little confusion factor to the commander's position, otherwise it seems that it is way too easy.
