I'm playing with 56k and it's not too bad. Just sometimes takes a bit longer to join missions.
No, you got suckered. Sucks, but it happens.
Until you get to know the economy, check with guildmates on prices of items. Dye prices fluctuate a lot, but most everything else is relatatively constant (unless an update changes the rarity of something).
Even though my character is a warrior my melee attack damage sucks balls. My weapon is a +20% customized 7-10 damage sword with 6 swordsmanship (got about the same amount of strenght too) and usually I only manage to deal around 11-15 damage with a normal hit, what's up with that?
I'd very much like to get a new sword to replace that piece of crap, but good items aren't that common, you know...
Put points in strength for armor penetration.
Anyway, swords go for 500g-20k, depending on abilities and such. And coolness, a fiery dragonsword or "cloud's sword" will fetch more than a long sword, just cause there are people who actually care about what they're character looks like.
Though, for the record, "cloud's sword" dyed purple looks oh so cool.

Most weapons that are good, you get from doing far off quests, one you really have to work for to complete.
My Shortbow is 14-19, doing around 25 damage per shot, with customisation, and Markmanship Lvl 6., I average around 40 damage per shot with my preparations done...
