I don't like sliding doors very much, right when it's dinner time you run to the kitchen and you don't notice them and then WACK!

Buy a bunch of those cheap BIG plastic crates, like 50 gallon size, fill up crap with them, stack em', use them to move, then return them saying they weren't the right size or color.

You'll move in abour 3 hours easy with these things. Easy to move, stack, open, and VERY effiecient and nitey.

You can put everything in them in a few afternoons.

You would return used merchandise? Shame on you ... .. . (I hope you lose your receipt and they give you store credit). <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Birds in my area tend to fly into 18-wheel trucks.

Yup, a friend of mine had a bird crash through the windshield of his 18 wheeler.

the first thing we worried about when getting our own house (renting) was internet lol <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    things to buy

    bin
    fridge/freezer
    washing machine
plates cups all those kitchen needs for food
    lounge etc
    toiletries.
    bed!!!

things to worry about with a house
electricity - for the first 3 mths (dunno how it works where you are but here you pay the bill every 3 mths ) .. keep an eye on the meter and estimate the amount you use a day in elextricity. Beleive me, you dont want a big bill.

water- if you got yer own house, watch yer water usage

myself, i reckon a dog is essential, especially for the first few weeks. they keep people out. with moving into a new house, generally ppl target new homes because ppl leave them unlocked whilst moving in etc or just moved in. so a dog will definately keep them away. (if your like us your neighbours just happen to be the worst sort, so a dog is needed all the time)

    and most importantly

    you need a computer <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You're meant to put little cut out diamonds on them so you can tell if it's open or closed.

    <-- navy brat

    washer/dryer, mailbox, more furniture

    switch over your mail

tell everyone your new address/phone #

if moving long distance, move your beds the first day, I hate moving and having to sleep on the floor until the mattresses come.

a fresh stock of party liquor

    room carpets

    grill

    lawnmower/weedwacker

find your girl some people her own age, preferably with parents you like

Don't stress too much over moving, enjoy the change in scenery

Don't skimp on the lawnmower, ever. I have a Honda I bought in Feb '94 and it runs like a top. Of course, I paid $600.00 usd for it too. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Weedwackers, trimmers, and blowers go for the Echo brand. Lots of landscapers swear by them. Chainsaws, I like my Husquavarna ... seems to be bulletproof.

Have the local utility company do an energy audit on your home (normally free) - it will tell you a lot. Put a timer on your water heater and wrap it in an insulation blanket to save even more moola.

when I networked my house, I dropped the cat5 from the attic to the upstairs rooms through the coax holes. It worked pretty well.
