Who Would Do The Soundtrack?

KoulnisKoulnis Join Date: 2005-04-13 Member: 48337Members
<div class="IPBDescription">NS or NS2, whichever...</div> What group or artist would you want to do the soundtrack for or collaborate with Jeremy Soule to provide to the atmosphere of the game? Would you want to go for two different artists for each side (i.e. Tweaker (music for doom) for the marines and Trent Reznor/NiN for aliens, <i>as an example</i>) or just one throughout?

What be your thoughts? Go mainstream or underground. You're only limited by your imagination.

    you really need to think about the aura you are trying to create, the orcastric intro of the current game says "this is somthing different, something epic" and it doesnt play too much, which on a game people play continuously (not like a 1p game you play once) it needs to be non interfering.

    much of the ns maps represent a cold clean sterile style, while the the infected areas are an utter about turn, dark movements skuttling out of view, the walls pulse with life, the air would be clammy with a bitter taste.

    to me? this suggests 2 entirely different style of tracks a pulse based rythem, by that, when action occurs (in the same style as nolf2 but many games have repeated this) the music changes, growing more agressive, perhaps even harrassing to the user for their pulse to reply in turn and make the excitment more viseral.

    but something NS has always been about to me, is ambient noises, my early plays, having a gas pipe vent steam past me, in HL it happens, you ignore it, but in NS i emptied half a clip at a wall. flood the game with ambient noise, then, cut them off, welcome them to a cold empty "you are in space" with disparaent meaningless noise blips, almost as if they are imaginary, slowing comming to focus as the pulse on some server hub.

    to me sound is the oft forgotten emotion aspect of a game, the thing that brings the memorable moment forwards.

    I'd suggest grabbing the guy who made that "We've Got Hostiles" song <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    i kinda like the orchestral stuff theyre using now, but it definitely needs some techno or metal or something (ns_metal!!1`!`1!).

    If they go orchestral again i wanna b in on that <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    That was a kick*** song.

    I'd say Marilyn Manson could get on Alien music with Soule. It'd provide that atmosphere of "I'm evil and loving it" and then NiN comes in on a heavy firefight on marine with Mr. Self Destruct.

    Mark Snow, they guy who did all of the music for the X-Files.
    His style fits NS perfectly, just listen to some of it while playing.

    Jeremy Soule's music would be much better suited for a wide-scale RTS (like Total Annihilation), but I would still like for him to make the track for NS2.

    Damn it if Flayra dosent pay to get me into a recording studio to do a rap for NS2, i'm gonna do a drive by on his apartment!!!11one

    Collaborate with anyone? Hans Zimmer. I might actually have cl_musicenabled 1 with his music on the soundtrack.

    Danny Elfman.

    I don't care if NS doesn't fit his style whatsoever, it's just there should be more excuses to hear his music. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    IF a CO mode (or something like it) were to exist in NS2 you HAVE to get someone with some heavy metal. Very fast, very discordant.

    <a href='http://www.betweentheburiedandme.com' target='_blank'>http://www.betweentheburiedandme.com</a>

    I think The Absence (a very new band) could orchestrate some pretty kick **** "run n gun" music.

    John Williams. Only he could really make us <i>feel</i> the plight of the downtrodden aliens. And I hear he did some music for some space movies some time or something.

    I'll be composing it.

    It'll be a beautiful sackpipe orchestra piece with 74 tambourines for the marine soundtrack, and the aliens will basically be a masterpiece in banjo.

    i think it would be cool if bruce faulconer did the ns2 or ns:source music score. for those of you who dont know who he is, he did the score for the dbz american series and a few other movies.

    I'd go with Jerry Goldsmith. However, he died last year. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    For those who don't know Jerry Goldsmith, he was the guy with the ever famous Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Next Generation theme. He also did other film scores such as The Mummy, U.S. Marshals, The Omen, Total Recall, and Alien.

    Or how about Harry Gregson-Williams? Get the upbeat in some maps that are hardcore action, and infiltration.

    I'd like to see Fuel. They've had music included in a few games and one of their albums is coincedently titled Natural-Selection <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
