Fanmade Thief 2 expansion pack :i
Today a bunch of dedicated amateurs have finally released their fully fledged Thief 2 expansion pack after 5 years of work, so now is a very good time to dig out your copy of T2 and reinstall it. I'm still downloading, but it's 655mb in size and several of their initial developers were stolen by Ion Storm for Deadly Shadows - which is promising? The Thief community probably has the best collection of singleplayer mappers alongside classic Doom, so I'm expecting something quite sexy. :i

No. I noted that I find the game's visuals and scope intriguing, and went on that I'd happily play it if only I owned the original game in question. Show me the occasion on which I locked or nuked a smiliar message

Thief 2 (together with Deus Ex) was available on a DVD that came with a computer game magazine issue some time ago. I managed to find a friend who was a subscriber, but wasn't interested in the DVD.

I don't know if this'll help you much, Nem, because I don't know if Computer Gaming World is as international as its name implies. But at least this info may help a fellow North American gamer or few.

Sadly, 'World' is being equalled with 'Amiland' in that case :/

/me starts scouring the grabble bins.

Since looknig glass studios went bankrupt, wouldn't T2 be abandonware?

I don't think so as its technically owned by the publisher, right? Either way Thief2 in the UK is only £5 now available on most rotating games displays.

Donwloaded and installed last night (curse my tiny 20 gig hard drive!) er... *ahem*. It's very professional; it's easy to see why this took five years. My one gripe is that so far (mission four or five) the storyline isn't really very convincing. There doesn't seem to be a lot of justification for exactly why you're stealing things, and it's a bit irritating that a mission which seems made for "lots of equipment" comes immediately after one where loot is sparse; in Thief 2 the money you make in one mission can only ever be spent in the next one, and that applies here also.

Nevertheless, it's great stuff for those who want more Thief .

    ...

Thief 2 is not abandonware. It's still being sold by distributors specialising in otherwise out-of-print games. I think my copy is curtosy of a "Sold Out Software".

Yes, its very good. Stays true to the thief universe (more so than thief 3 imo). The level design, the voice acting, the literature (books, scrolls) the fmv cutscenes.. all quality stuff. Clearly its a real labour of love.
