Metamod Crash

<div class="IPBDescription">metamod crashes with NS v3</div> Im running a windows ns server, using a non-steam version.

The server runs fine with the Metamod, with players in it, until damage is being done, then the hlds crashes.

The metamod mod works fine for CS and i downloaded a modified version of Metamod for NS v3, nothing works.


Any help???

    he either means hes using won2 or won. in which case ns 3.0 doesnt work properly on either of these old networking protocals. your best bet would probably be to find a pre-steam version of metamod and manually add the new entities associated with ns 3.0.

    and if your not a programmer, just dig up a copy of ns 2.0 and run that on the old won system since it was designed for it on it.

    Or maybe he downloaded HLDS.exe from STEAM and uses the hldsupdatetool.exe to update his files. In this case, STEAM does not need to be open in order for the dedicated server to be running, probably known as a "non-steam server". Least I think that's what he meant.

    In this case, we should know a few things. What version of MEtamod are you running?

    are there any logs of the crash before it happens? (Log on in server.cfg)

    Are you SURE it's metamod and not maybe another program such as AMXX or a plugin of it?

    The non-steam thing we using here we call the "Russian Cracked Counter Strike 1.6"

    Its a hacked Counter Strike 1.6 Steam version, that doesnt need a Internet Connection and steam account.

    I can use Metamod on this "Russian Version" with multiple plugins on cs 1.6, its just NS that crashes when i try using metamod with it.

    I really think you are opening a can of worms here. Not only are you trying to get a game to work with a system it was not intended to, you are also trying to modify that game further. I think you need to either accept an older game work as it is (without metamod) or move on to a recent version where it's been proven that metamod and AMXX work.

    Even if you wanted to go through all the pain and agony that setting up an old server would cause, it's not likely that your general playing audience will be willing to do the same.

    Setting up this type of server is basically setting yourself up to do more tech support then playing.

    I already posted "why", it is not designed for that platform. As for it being more "user friendly" I'm afraid I'm going to have to call you out on that one; I think you have ulterior motives. That's all I have to say about this.

    I have STEAM, but when i try install NS to it....it says it cannt find a valid steam version......how do i install NS to STEAM manually?

    you have to run the game half-life and play it BEFORE you install ns.
