Just like anyother place, send in a resume and an application.

And be prepaired for one of the longest and most extensive background investigations ever.

btw u better be pretty smart if you want to work there. I shouldnt have to say that its kinda hard to get into.

Also, the secret service does a lot more than protect the president. They work under the US Treasury dept. They deal with all the counterfeit money etc.

They also have a large uniformed division which us pretty cool to work for as well.

I don't dislike other branches, I simply like to maintain a "friendly rivalry" with them (conflict <i>does</i> promote growth, afterall). Depends on what part of the CIA. Some parts you can apply to. Others, they send someone out to approach you, like they did with my Dad's friend (he turned it down).

Funnily enough, I've seen CIA recruiting advertisements in, IIRC, The Economist. I doubt you'd be able to get into a secret agent-type job, although if you're smart, would pass an extensive background check, and have a good degree, you may be able to become an analyst.

Marines. I have alot of friends and met alot of people who've been in practically every armed service branch. I have yet to hear one person say they hated their time in the Marines. Infact I met a guy a few days ago who went through WW2, Korea, and half of Vietnam and he said he wouldn't trade his time in the Marines for anything.
That alone is the reason I goto Parris Island in November D:

Oh yeah, and those visions of marines are pretty much totally wrong.

My cousin was pretty quite the 1st time he came back, we just hung out in my basement listening to slipknot and mettalica, playing ps2. (he has over a 300 game collection). The second time around he was alot better, busting out jokes and stuff.

He's asking which military branch would be best suited to his tastes. No need for conscientious objection (read: trolling). Also, the military doesn't represent the worst excesses of humanity.

He's asking for career advice. I'm responding. I'm suggesting that we have enough soldiers already, why not try for another career?

But I have to ask, why is suggesting that someone NOT become a soldier trolling?

Did soldiers teach you? Heal you when you were sick? Build your roads? Provide your electricity? Research your medicines?

No. A soldier is a tool of failed policy. A soldier is a method of acheiving through might what you cannot acheive through reason or diplomacy.

Soldiers are part of an army. An army is a tool designed to crush those who you disagree with. An army is a well orchestrated killing machine, designed for the mass murder of humans and the destruction of material. It is the most advanced engine of destruction that we have created in human history.

And there's ALWAYS a need for conscientious objection. Warfare is a last, not first resort.

He's asking which military branch would be best suited to his tastes. No need for conscientious objection (read: trolling). Also, the military doesn't represent the worst excesses of humanity. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

As opposed to say, being part of an actual emergency services team? Or having another, more societally useful job?

How much time and how many billions of dollars are ploughed into the National Guard (great name by the way, worked out well on 11/9/01)?

And for all of that, you get a second rate fire service? Brilliant. You've completely underlined my point.

    In response to Mad Man:

I rather doubt you'd have the political vocabulary to describe my views. I don't think I have the political vocabulary to describe my view. Maybe Nem or Cagey could give it a shot.

If you are American, then yes I'd be a liberal. Then again, so would anyone to the left of Genghis Khan, so your evalutation is meaningless.

As for Anti-war? What the hell is that meant to mean? Isn't everyone except for Nazis, the Bush Administration and Futurists? What kind of idiot child would actually be in favour of war? Rarely, war is necessary. It's never welcome.

While all branches are great for what they do, dont look for what others say, while one person may like flying another might be afraid of hights... They'll both defend they arguments that their branch is better, but its up to u.

I would rather be in a AH-64 Apache and or a A-10 Thunderbolt II... Thats because i like brute force and hands on work with ease...

    Get my drift?
