That's because there isn't any information yet. It will be released when it's ready.

    Thats not going to happen.
    Its not done yet.
Its a very risky thing to release an unfinished product to the public. Admit it or not, the general playerbase of any game is really really picky. As soon as you release a buggy beta, all those people who were screaming"OGM just give it to us now!11" turn around and start screaming "OGMWTH THIS R CRAP!11"
To make it worse, NS kinda set itself up. We have been getting fairly high quality stuff from the very beginning. I mean, we really haven't ever had it all that bad. Even in some of the lesser balanced patches, NS tends to adhear to a very strict standard of quality.
The NS devs do not want to release something that is unfinished.
They definitely don't want to release something broken. Hell, even during the "public beta" phase, the NS Playtesters were still testing new content in a closed enviroment to make sure nothing was completely and entirely broken (Horrible crash bugs and such)

We're actually trying for a faster update cycle, but, well, 3.1 features six additional months of work with Nexus, so QA becomes a slightly bigger issue.

I allowed myself to edit your statement since it is the kind of rumor that's got a penchant for evolving a life of its own and causing grey hair for me. I said that Nexus constitutes six months worth of work that has already been done, but not yet been tested on a larger scale, and I can guarantee to you that, no matter how good the coder, half a year is a lot of time to accumulate weird bugs.

    A) I'm responsible for the decision about CM testing. Charlie has little to do with that part of the process.
    B) Whatever makes you think he doesn't care about the CMs?

Sure, the private forums is cool, but what separates it from general discusiion or anything else?

I wish we just knew something, or maybe even you guys could put consties of your choice under a NDA, and tell us stuff, just about anything would help out now...

    ...

They don't share secret information with us... seriously. We know as much as the general public does.

I'm pretty sure that when we test Nexus they'll tell the public what it is... (no, we don't know anything about it).

I take it you didn't get involved in the big constie test of the last patch then...? The thing is, with such a huge number of people as consties, then releasing any sort of 'secret information' won't stay secret at all - the numbers are just too large.

QUOTE (Yash)

I wish we just knew something, or maybe even you guys could put consties of your choice under a NDA, and tell us stuff, just about anything would help out now...

They already do... they're PT's - (a slightly simplified idea, but it makes the point) - whats the point of making people agree to the NDA and telling them stuff for the sake of telling them...?

And as pointed out, the PT's know very little more than you already know - the most obvious example is the fact that we have no more idea about nexus than you do. They (the dev's) are quite deliberately keeping it all a secret at the moment - when we get the first version of 3.1 to test, you all get told about nexus.... so *everyone* finds out about it at the same time.

You have a somewhat incorrect perception of the Constellation program there.

You are donors. We are grateful for those donations. Hence, the icons et all. But we won't start to 'buy' Consties. Thus, we do not open CM betas unless it is sensible from a design perspective. Thus, we do not 'seperate you from the general public' by means of secret info. All said and done, you are part of the general public. I honestly fail to see what's so bad about that.
  • YashYash Join Date: 2004-09-07 Member: 31501Members, Constellation

It's pretty selfish to think your donation entitles you to "secret info" or other special treatment.

You donate because you want to help the project, not because you expect a return. That's why it's a donation, not an investment.

The icon and forums, etc, are a voluntary return from the devs as a small thank you, which they didn't even have to provide (many organizations take donations and don't even write a letter).

I like what this guy said here!

Yes you donate because you want to help the ns project not because you expect something in return because if u do expect something in return (other than getting to play a new version of ns) then you are donating for the wrong reasons!

I'm not sure how many times ive donated but i just donate because i like playing ns so much and want it to continue for a long time

I consider the constellation program as the devs showing their apprectiation of the donators. In all honesty even if the constellation program wasn't there to show the devs appreciation i would still donate, just because i like ns and appreciate what they have given us for free so basically by donating i feel im giving the devs some appreciation

I mean the devs most probably feel appreciated by ppl downloading their mod and playing it.

I know that alot of ns players are still in school and can't afford to donate but like i have heard from alot of them e.g. some say this:

"If i wasn't in school and had a gd job i would donate, but im in school"

I know i waited untill i got a gd job before donating!

But i don't expect anything i just don't feel right getting a game for free especially when i like that game so much!
