<div class="IPBDescription">a double edged sword</div> It has to my attention that fade rockets can and will detonate mines. This blessed me with 3 glorious kills all having HA and HMG (there was alot of mines)
Mines can really screw you over later on.

Think it's worth the risk?

    Really, mines should only be used in the beginning of the game - the time when they are more useful and less expensive than turrets. Skulks, gorges, and lerks cannot detonate mines; only fades can do that. So, use mines when you're first starting to save on resources and allow you to get some leverage on hive conquering (you have no idea how long it takes for aliens to realize your main base is undefended..when they see mines, they instantly think "I shouldn't attack," it seems).

    If and when the aliens get Fades, ditch the mines and invest in some turrets and heavier guns. NEVER try to use mines for fades...though, they are still quite a good thing to place in vents (since Fades tend to avoid vents). Also, you can try dropping mines at the VERY top of a ladder - that'll surprise a few fades.

    skulks and gorgs WILL detonate them if they are low enough to trigger the hitbox... so place em on floors and ceilings

    Wouldn't that damage your CC in the process though? Or do mines not do FF on your own buildings...?

    when I command, I 100% refuse to give ANYONE mines for ANY reason. Mines are voluntary death traps to marines. Whenever I spot mines as a skulk, I camp them... When marines draw near, I rush the trip-laser and presto, marine mash. Works just like Xenocide, and you don't even need 3 hives.

    Guess no one realizes you can put them on the floor straight down and they work as anti-personnel mines. Aliens step on 'em and they go boom. They never know what's comin either since they dont see that big red laser that basically says to them, "HEY LOOK I'M A MINE SO DON'T STEP HERE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE, K".

    I always ask for a pack early on to prevent skulk rushes against our CC/Spawn Portals. Work like a charm if you can get 'em on all sides.

    Mines are a great way for marines to commit seppuku, considering that's who they damage more often than not....

    Yes. But that's why you can lay them around the CC as a deterrent. A skulk has to get close to the CC to bite it. With mines around the CC he cannot get close, unless he enjoys splattering himself. Make sense?

    They're good when laid around tight corners too. Aliens never look and they run 'em over anyway. In either case, they're really not too great in the end game, but pretty nice to have in the beginning if your Commander will spend 8 RP's on 'em for you.

    Yeah I was there when all those mines were set up! and ONE fade took them all out, or almost all of em! I was unaware of the fact that they had FF capabilities at the time. I think it's good though so that people don't go loco with the mines....unless they just want some fun.

    Skulks can easily take out mines...just run right over them and keep on going...the explosion is slightly delayed, and if you keep moving then you will only receive a slightly burned bottom (maybe like 40% of your health). Anyways, mines are just something for skulks to run into and kill themselves on, thus not really affecting much at all except removing a skulk from the game for about 10 seconds...the RP's could be better spent somewhere, IMO.

    the only use of mines are in vents and in the early game to stop early skulk rushes. If Flayra would jusr remove the red dot then they would have more than 100 uses to it. think of the possibilities

    i love mines. i'm uber good at placing them so that nothing can get past them without taking serious damage. and yes skulks and gorges can detonate them. however, i don't think being able to detonate them with acid rockets is a good idea. acid melts things in a sense, and the chances are really low that the acid will conduct the electricity between 2 wires at the same time in a mine to set it off.
