384mb sdram
hercules fortissimo iii 7.1 soundcard
radeon 9700 129mb pro
winxp
1024\786 opengl 16bit
abit kt7a with bios flashes
no eax on
and my rpoblem is that when i play ns it seems like something eats my fps up, first when i join i have 99 fps i readyroom, then i join a team and go down to 60 fps, and from there i end up with about 30-60 fps no matter what im doing or where im looking, even when i go back to readyroom it stays near 60.
i have latest via drivers too, hd is a bit old but defragged, i resintalled hl to make ns smooth but didnt help made countless new configs with smaller tweaks in it but i dunno wich ones i want.
but to me this seems like a memory problem? plz help?

Let me guess: you have nano-tech implants in your eyes and can see up to 50 fp/s compared to 25 fp/s which normal ppl recognize as fluid motion.
I get at most 15 fps in NS but ~40 fps in other mods. But I am usually battling those horrible intruders (marines) with 4 fps.
Maybe you should try updating drivers, looking for that stickied post about frame rates and how to increase them, defrag your HD, get a better computer, etc. etc.

The human eye can't distinguish past 60 frames a second, not 25. There would be a huge difference between 25 and 50 fps. That was just bothering me and I had to correct you
I play all my games with v-sync on, but since I run at 100hz refresh rate, most games hover around 100fps. And yes, Half-life's default max_fps setting is around 70 or 75 - I usually put mine on something like 300 just for good measure - and yes there is a very noticeable difference when you bump up the max_fps. It's not 1998 and we're not running Voodoo2 cards anymore...

Something that was bothering me.....
fps_max CAN be set higher then 100, but it won't do anything. The max fps in HL is 100 and you'll never get higher.
*Mumbles to self: Lucky bums with there 100 fps while I only get ~10. Can't wait till I get my Radon 9700 128mb Pro next week.... *
I'm sorry to say, but my value wasn't quite correct. It should have been, as Tyrlan posted correctly, 30 fps. Everything beyond can't be processed by your brain and additional frames will be dropped. Even with an fps as low as 16 (or 24 like in the cinema) your eye is tricked and treats the single frames as one fluid motion.
i do hope this is some silly bug in the mod or something cuz i want 100fps atleast a constant 60!
thanks
I think, something like that, saw it on discovery channel.
Just my guess ^-^

and thats bad?
I think it's fine,.. are you on 56k?
gotta sort out this problem
Or in the case that you are using 30.82 (or somewhere around there) dets, there's seems to be a bug where vsync constantly stays on, even if you set it to "always off". This is happening to me right now, friggen vsync will just go to "always on" as soon as I start an HL game.
