hi all, just a new map im working on , takes place in a abandonned underground facility, wich used to be a missile launch base. 2 pics show the marine start, still needs a few things here and there, but i want peoples opinion on the shape and size of room , its about 1400X1400 , commander will probably be on the balcony where the computer sits. go easy on me , i have not mapped in over 10 months! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Some of that lighting looks abit bland. By the door and the railing, if it is a 'light' it may benifit to change it to a light_spot of some sort. Especially above that door, you could have two aimed at about -75. It think that could work well.

-The shaft-thing in the middle doesn't go down very far, it just ends at a black texture. I suggest you lengthen it down a good deal to make it look like its nice and long.
-The blue light thingies at the top of the shaft dona lookie to good, and they don't emit blue light!
-That metal floor texture is getting SERIOUSLY overused by a lot of mappers. Change it to something less plain and more original.
-The detailed textures on the floor around the shaft-thing might look neat up there, but might not look good when you're running on top of them. Maybe you could put a grating down?
-Lighting is very cool, but make sure you make some darker and less ambient areas outside of Marine Start (and in the Alien areas, too, of course!)
Well if you have every been to - A foundry, a powerplant, a factory, or many other similar things you will relized that that grated flooring is like the MOST widly used style in EVERWHERE!
And since mappers are doing alot of maps based on this types of places it would only makes sense that that style flooring would be widly used, i think it looks fine considering he used SO many other textures in the room.
I stick by all my other suggestions though.
