Concept by me, bits taken from various H&K rifles.

It's a bit blocky - I would make it more 'curvey,' especially around the stock and barrel.

while making stock/barrel less "blocky" it makes it look better in the render but ingame you wont ever notice.

    Nioce model, look cool

its a flatshade. trust me, its curvy in the right places. H&K weapons are traditionally pretty angular.

that said, there are a few bits that do need smoothing out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Excellent then. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> The gun has some nice details around the rail and trigger area. The only other thing I can think of is the barrel - it seems a few inches too short *edit* for a rifle */edit* IMO. If you're going for a more compact look, then it's all good. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I like it. The handle seems a bit angular and uncomfortable, but I like the concept.

this could definately find its way in a future release of ns - possibly as a new weapon that lies between between the LMG and and HMG. it could be referred to as the IMG (intermediary machine gun). <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
personally, i think this would add more cowbell to the game... this game <u>needs</u> more cowbell.

sexyness, im just worried that you wouldn't be able to see the barrel in game, which is probly ok for most people but i don't like not being able to see the barrel <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

its like preperation H tho, feels good, on the whole

Hopefully you can get some good smoothing for it too
  • KaineKaine Join Date: 2002-08-07 Member: 1096Members, Constellation
    smoothing is next to done, i do it as i go <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

more worried about mesher/skinner *HINT* *HINT*

Nice, looks like the sl8 I converted. Maybe make more room at the top part of the bolt slide thing so the finger can pull it back <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Should fit fine on my animations for the sl8 if you finish it.
  • KaineKaine Join Date: 2002-08-07 Member: 1096Members, Constellation
its done. needs mesh & skin and i'll see about those animations...

and there's plenty of room for fingers. there's more room than there is on an SL8, anyway.

Post a format readable by milkshape and ill mesh it.
  • DrfuzzyDrfuzzy FEW... MORE.... INCHES... Join Date: 2003-09-21 Member: 21094Members
If you use my sl8 animations, send it to me first because I need to redo the fire animation.
  • KaineKaine Join Date: 2002-08-07 Member: 1096Members, Constellation
Here you go. .3ds format maintains smoothing groups and milkshape & MAX can import it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It might need a few little optimizations before you mesh, but otherwise its very clean <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Put a flash hider on the barrel, add some ris and rails, and you will have a model that will make anybody think: damnnnnn
  • KaineKaine Join Date: 2002-08-07 Member: 1096Members, Constellation
too late, its already off for meshing D:

    and whats a ris?

i took a flash hider OFF the barrel, i sorta prefer the smooth look. they're also a pain in the butt to get right in MS3d without Booleans

Loving it. I perfer the barrel without a flash-hider too, I always liked that kinda look like a PSG-1 or the SL-8, I eagerly await the release of this. Keep it up you guys. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Great weapon, looks very "HK" like. I can't wait to see the end-result, this should prove to be a great model!

its not letting me import it, i import the 3ds and it just doesnt load it. It just sits there.

I'm trying out Lith-un thingie, instead of milkshape's texture editor. Ive been look at c3's tutorial <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63179&hl=' target='_blank'>here</a>
    <img src='http://webpages.charter.net/grizzlybear/liththihadsfndsa.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

then open up your model in lithunwrap. Your model should be a messy pile of lines and shapes.
select all of them by dragging a box around them with your mouse. Then press Tools --> UV Mapping --> Decal
press z front for now and scale to mapping space. it should turn out to be something like this

I do the z front but wheres this scale to mapping space? Ive gone through everything.
