It's still going to be better to leap then bite or para then bite. If you bite and take off the rine is just going to get medded, meaning a WHOLE lot more paras then just one to finish him off.

Maybe this will finally get nub skulks to start parasiting marines when they see them rather than just prioritizing their personal kill. That's all you have to do. A marine that has been parasited, ever, no longer benefits from this extra armor(unless they're welded of course).
There're lots of problems with midgame, but there's no way in hell of solving them with a server-side update
Zek, I wouldn't bet on that. Most new players are not really savy in armor calculation.

I figure they'll learn real quick the first couple times they die after two bites and complain about it in chat.
It takes 2 parasites to render medding for 3 bites useless. It takes 3 parasites to render welding for 3 bites useless.
If marines are given welders + meds at the start of the game, well that's a lot of res that's invested in them to maintain the slim advantage.
And the chances of a skulk killing a marine with parasite + 2 bites is > than 2 bites + parasite. Or if you're that close anyway, just go for 3 bites. NS vanilla rine vs skulk battles is NOT a circus as you're implying with skulks dancing around rines trying to get the last parasite to kill. If they waste that much time trying to "own", they deserve to get massacred by a medpack to the marine.
No matter what situation you're in as a skulk, 90% of the time you will have an opportunity to parasite them shortly before entering bite range. If you have to approach them from anything more than a couple of feet away then you have no excuse not to parasite them; it's not really even hard to aim it while bunnyhopping. If you're ambushing, then just parasite them the very moment before you bite so as to minimize reaction time. It's not hard. A lot of skulks suck at it because they never bothered to learn how to parasite in close quarters, but that's going to have to change now. The time it takes to parasite, press 1 and bite is less than the cooldown between bites, so parasiting them first and biting twice takes less time than 3 bites and is less likely to disorient you before you kill them.
yea me likes the armor. I have only played 2 rounds since the update, and both times my team, aliens won (w00t). But it is noticably harder to kill a rine, which not only decreases marine deaths and alien startgame, but it encourages more teamwork from the alien team. Knowing i have one more bite to take someone down, i wait for others or try to ambush alot more often. +_______ | | | |
Comm'd a few games last night on our server and it looks good. I went this route twice and it worked a treat...
IP, Armoury, OBS, PG, AL, W1, W2, A1 (when a fade appeared)... etc.
Early PG is even more powerful now, as the extra bit of armour means marines can get through and survive an attack on a PG by a couple of skulks. Of course that means early hive lockdowns, but there we go

Going straight to w1 and w2 has worked ok for me, hasn't been any complaints about not getting a1 first. Getting a1 at the time fades arrive seems to work so far.
I suspect the better way is to parasite FIRST. If aliens are parasiting all the time more marines will light up and aliens will have a half assed SoF in addition to restoring the old two bite. In this way I imagine that it is imagined that balance will remain, while at the same time if aliens go sensory marines can go the obs path without apparent drawback, earlygame at least, since arms 1st ups don't do **** now
Marines can go obs first all the time now if they wish whether or not if aliens have sensory. Long term it may not be a good idea; I guess we'll find out
The entire game has changed through the techtrees; it is not simply a matter of 'more parasite kills' and 'marine overpow4r'
Ok... so I just had an AMAZING game of NS yesterday.
Ns_eclispe, marines where coming down to North Core access in that tiny corridor. So a bunch of skulks sat at the end parasiting, a couple of the marines tried pistol sniping us, but just at that moment the 2nd hive went up and a skulk from behind leaped in and got 1 of them, munched another and then one of the skulks that were parasiting managaed to snipe a marine. Pretty funny "OH KILL STEAL!!"
