Why Do Spores Damage Armor?

playermanplayerman Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7854Members
spores don't damage buildings, which makes sense since spores are like some sort of biological weapon.
so then why do spores damage armor? it seems inconsistent to me but maybe it does make the game better somehow. what's the reasoning behind it?

Would you rather spores ignore armor and kill heavies just as quickly as it kills newly-spawned marines?

    Thought not.

Armor is made from a special material that isn't metal but is like metal. Stink clouds deteriorate this metal. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> There you go.

Somewhere else it was already said that the armor the marine suse has some sort of protection against natural hazars. So it's like you get shot the armor gets consumed while trying to stop those spores.

On a spores-related note, a couple times, I have noticed spores still lingering at the start of a new game. Once in Nancy, the aliens had basically turned our main into a big spore cloud. Upon starting the next game, a few of the marines died from spores which hasn't disappated.

    No.
I would rather have armor protect against spores depending on the amount of armor; more armor takes more time for the spores to penetrate, without actually damaging the armor.
So a HA marine would lose health slower due to spores than a LA marine

Besides i think wizards don't have a place in a scifi game. The aliens can have pretty much any weird abilities, they are alien after all.
But the marines have futurisic earth technology, and as good sci-fi goes there has to be scientific consistancy even if it's fiction. That's why it is called -Science- Fiction.

Boy you have the sense of humor of a brick don't you? hehehe <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyway, why not give HA guys an armor that wont let anything through?!? And guns that kill in one hit?!?
In every game it happens, dont worry about it, its called balance. I mean spore cloud is good because it does what it does. If it didn't, what would be the use? I doubt very much its gonna change.
