<div class="IPBDescription">Make Adminmod work...</div> I don't know whose fault it is Admin Mod won't work with NS, yours, theirs, metamods, I don't know and I don't care.

Here's is what I care about, banning slurs from server, being able to maintain a fun and enjoyable environment, making sure the teams stay even within reason.

I let people cuss on my server, I don't let them use slurs, I let the teams get off by 2 (i.e. 6 to 8) but not by 3 or more (i.e. 6 to 9), I have to do all these things by hand. I have to watch the server all the damn time. I had to recruit two of my friends with HL engine experience and server experience to help me monitor the server because I can't be there all the time. This sucks, running a server is NOT fun for me because of this.

I have not motivation to pay for a server if I don't enjoy getting to host it.

Here's how I host servers, I pick people, regulars and people I like or know and people who play well and seriously and make the game more fun. And I give them reserved slots, to encourage a good regular strong, fun player base on my server. Then from those people I pick the truly outstanding ones and I give them limited admin powers.

By doing this I can keep jerks and grief players off my server 24/7. I can keep people who find ways around my filters for slurs off my server, I can keep regular players who are fun to play with coming back to my server. I can keep it a good enjoyable server for myself and those that are willing to live by my two rules. I make a little tiny near paradise out there in the sea of crap and bigots and racists and griefers and jerks, a little place for me and my friends and people who want to have fun and play the game.

I can't do it without adminmod. I can't give reserved slots without them being reserved in the old fashioned crappy way where they look empty until you try to join. I refuse to do that.

I can't give admin powers out without giving them total rcon, which is just too risky.

I can't enforce banned words without being there ALL the time, which I can't do. And I can't hear the mics without being inside and on both teams at once, which I can't do.

I need to be able to give out admin on my server, I need to be able to give out reserved slots. I need to be able to control it just enough to keep it fun.

None of which I can do.

I understand you would be reluctant to release a patch called 1.03 that did nothing but fix adminmod, but I'm asking you to. Others are asking you to. Enough people want it... NEED it, that it's worth it.

It will make your mod better by giving people better servers to play on.

And it will make life in general easier for fans of your game who want to run servers for it.

Please, fix it. Soon.

Bob the Gorge wants it <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

you don't need it. cpu usage is a LOT more important.

I agree that admin mod is important but not more important and that there are some things that you cannot do with rcon. But I personally don't think AM should be the #1 priority

    1) NS bugfixes
    2) server cpu usage fixed
    3) VAC
    4) adminmod

I do not believe adminmod (metamod) can necessarily be addressed by the NS developer(s). It is likely the responsibility of the creators of AM to incorporate NS.

I too would like to see AM working...as I have to kick people to even get into my server...reserved spots would be nice. But, the developers of NS have more important things (like bugs, features, etc) to worry about....and we more than likely have to harass the AM developers to address the issue/

it has already been determined that the problem with admin mod and ns does indeed lie within NS, not Admin Mod

this patch was SUPPOSED to fix the problem, and in fact the interim beta patch DID fix the problem, but someone messed up

    these are FACTS

what we need to do is roll back to the beta patch that WORKED with admin, update it for the bugfixes and rerelease the patch

doesnt sound too difficult to me, give up the source and ill do it myself

I believe I've found and fixed the Adminmod problem for v1.03, to be released in the near future. Hang in there.

In the meantime, try out clanmod. You can find it at united admins. I just set ip up on Underworld, The Fists of Ra NS server some of you are familiar with and it works great!

You don't need Adminmod, you need Linux, not windows.

I can't even get AM working on Linux. I get a seg fault the second a command is run. I am running MD9 with a CS and DOD server with no problem.... Any tricks running NS and AM you could clue me in on?

I have found a better option than both Clanmod and Adminmod. You guys might want to try AMX, made by none other than OLO himself (with some help from the rest of the community).

I've been running it for a little while now, and I like it. It's all plugin based, so getting new addons is easy, just request them or script them yourself.

Check out <a href='http://djeyl.net/amx.php' target='_blank'>http://djeyl.net/amx.php</a> for more info.

(no I do not work for them, I just like advertising stuff that I like. You should see all my "ads" for NS <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Jackson thanks for the link. I'm a huge fan of OLO's work

No problem. I really like the plugin style of AMX. Nothing is "built in", it's all pluggins, so it's easy to get the commands you want and leave the rest out.
