Installation/game Problems!

<div class="IPBDescription">Install crashes and game doesn't start</div> When I install NS the install will complete and then a dialogue box will appear saying something like, "Installation Successful". I click OK and the install just freezes, forcing me to manually close it (using ctrl-alt-del).
After this I can access the game, but only get the multiplayer option. I have edited the liblist.gam file in the NS directory to allow singleplayer and muliplayer games. Now when I start a new game I appear on the Black Mesa Research Facility transit system train (the beginning of Half-Life) and the NS yellow information boxes fall down from the screen!
I have tried re-installing NS (uninstalling first), but no luck!
What has happened?

I did read somewhere that natural selection was single player and multi player!?!?!? Strange.
All these hours of online gaming must have destroyed my eyes!
