"empty" Entities

any problem?
Every so often I get a new error when I go to map->check for errors...like
Solid Entity [func_wall] is empty

Having Hammer delete the entity doesn't ever work...

Anyway, I'm just wondering if this entity adds to the total entity count of my map, as it doesn't cause any other problems that I'm aware of...also, anyone know how to get rid of them?

    it does add to the total entity cound, or at least I think it is still a runtime entity. There is a way to get rid of these.

    1. Check for errors.

    2. select the empty entity in the error list

    3. close the error list and hit delete, now the error and entity in question is gone

    I had two of these in one map and it took me forever to track them down. I only noticed I had a problem when I zoomed way out and saw two lines stretching clear to the bottom limits of the graph. No idea how that happened. On a different map I had one that I never could track down so I ended up cannibalizing portions of the map into prefabs and trashed it.

    This problem is caused when you tie an object to an entity, and then tie it to another one. The old one is lost but if you go into entity list, it will still be listed. If you click on all of the func_walls individually and click 'go to', their location will show up on the graphs. The one that was 'lost' will make the cameras show up at the origin. Once you've found it you can click 'delete.'

    @the x5

    The empty entity error won't produce that error you are talking about. That is usually an invalid brush caused by vertex manipulation.

    I see. Well I guess that makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.

    Oh and please call me x5, the silly name restrictions won't let me have a 2 character name anymore. Digital prejudice I suppose.
