The knowledge imbued to me through my Cambridge University History degree (acquired in 1925) explicitly states that the Holocaust didn't happen - in fact, there was no mention of anyone named Hitler either. I got taught in school dialect is the way people speak a language and form sentances not how they spell the language. That I was always taught was an incorrect spelling.

EDIT: Colour and color are said the same. Dialect is the same, spelling is just plain silly and color is incorrect.

Gwahir 'summat' is a dialect, I'm guessing cockney. I personally don't say it, and it is heard occasionally round my area but not often, mainly with the young teen chavs.

Before you even say it's no differenct to something like colour/color, color is included and taught in schools as the language. Summat isn't, and it is discouraged.
