<div class="IPBDescription">UGL-Finals</div> hm, wanted to know if you saw the game, and what you thought of it

i personally really liked it, some great scenes, only the second rounds was a joke
(sens ftw <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

the siege on furnace was insane, i dont know how long it was, but it seemed like over 10 minnutes to me, insane alien teamwork at that part, 2 onos stomping to kill siege after siege while a gorge healed a hive, facing a combined army of ha and jp
the hive only went down as 2 or 3 jper enterd from behind and killed the gorge
and with the last blast the hive goes down, shortly before that jpers are killed

well, there were about 110 spectators i think
i want more such matches on hltv around that time
matches from the usa aare too late for us in europe <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    We have matches like that quite frequently actually, the only problem is that people don't hang out in the proper irc channels or check websites frequently enough to get the HLTV information.

    On a side note: The match was awesome. Except for our Jetpack rush. That sucked.

    Demos can be found <a href='http://esports.ampednews.com/?page=demos&id=1734' target='_blank'>here</a>.

    yeah, that jetpackrush horribly failed <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    did you plan to go jetpack/ha from the beginning or did you change to ha when you saw that your jp-rushh failed to focus?

    i dont know exactly, but that fade-kill from morphz, as you damaged the fade in bio, he fled through dres, morphz used the pg to be there faster and he surprised the fade

    just in time <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    great kill

    They didn't have focus at the time of the Jetpack rush, it was basically down to poor jetpacking by us and good Fading/Lerking by BM. We pretty much knew they were going to go for SC as second hive chamber, and Jetpacks really don't cut it against Focus Fades and leaping Focus Skulks.

    Our plan after the failed rush was:

    1. Get RTs.
    2. Lock down third hive.
    3. Get HA.
    4. Kill their RTs.
    5. Kill their Hives.

    Worked ok, I'd say. Not to mention the amazing rush you get when you pull off "impossible" comebacks like that.

    I couldn't believe knife came back. I was shocked. Excellant job on that round to both teams.

    Arrrr. The demos I linked to were first person, and not HLTV!

    Error corrected, and link updated.

    If you're too lazy to scroll up, <a href='http://esports.ampednews.com/?page=demos&id=1734' target='_blank'>here</a> they are.

    Great game to watch, especially that first round. Wonderful res control and teamwork from knife although BM did do extremely well to keep themselves in the game right through to the very end.

    Not to take anything away from knife's performance, but an active BM would of won that round and probably the tie breaker. (BM were seeded higher so they'd of gone aliens again)

    Meh, I think we would've taken it anyway. It would've been a lot more difficult, but still. And if we hadn't, we would've taken the tie breaker. Yes I am cocky enough to say that.

    Both teams are to be commended for, first of all making it to the finals, and secondly, giving us a great 1st half.

    When was the last time you saw BM search for a pcw? It was clear from speccing them that individually they're not as good as the were when they beat you on ns_caged. If an out of practise BM who never play can get up two hives and bum your JP rush; then an inpractise BM is going to get 2 hives but have more efficient skulks, fades and teamplay and you'd of not won. I don't meant to belittle your performance, you played well, but you couldn't beat their alien round in b6, i fail to see how you'd of won it in 3.0 if they were an active clan.
  • fanaticfanatic This post has been edited. Join Date: 2003-07-23 Member: 18377Members, Constellation, Squad Five Blue
    The only reason BM won that match on caged, was because we were in the middle of our huge roster problems. The only reason we could even play it, was because Zallvan came back from two months of inactivity to play one round, and we then waited for 20 minutes and castoors randomly showed up, who also hadn't played with us for almost a month. On top of that, we hadn't pcwed for well over a week, because people were leaving left and right.

    Our JP rush getting "bummed" was more our own fault than their skill. Once we had those nodes up and the heavies/jps going, we pretty much had it locked.

    "but you couldn't beat their alien round in b6"

    By that I assume you mean b5, and not b6 which is 3.0F. Your statement is just plain wrong, for the reasons stated above. Not to mention the fact that we had no problems winning in pcws. The difference in the other officials (hello metal) was simply down to the fact that they were strange maps we never play.

    Remind me why we're discussing this, and why you think you have a clue? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Okay so you think BM only beat you on caged because you had roster issues and one inactive player each round, fine. I think you only beat BM because they're ALL inactive and don't play as a clan anymore. I'm not going to belittle either clans performance, they both did as well as they could, but we all know BM are capable of much more than they displayed in those rounds when they're active and i believe that'd been more than enough for them to have won their alien rounds.

    Actually I don't really think anything about it. BM played better than us that game, and deserved their win. End of story.

    I was merely giving an example of why you can't compare things like that, and trying to show you why mind experiments with what-if-this-and-that are stupid. Regardless of problems behind the scenes, the team that wins the game is still the winner, and analyzing it like you have makes little sense.
