An AMX mod to remove the scoreboard in NS something I would love to have on the servers I play on. Does one exist. Or can it be done?

The scoreboard display is client-side, so server plugins can't remove it. What the ycan do is keep the scores set to zero. I'm almost certain a plugin was made to do this; check modns.org.

Or just have the NS devs implement it! At least as a server variable - count scores or no... or to what extent.

ok devs can that be done make the scoreboard a serverside veriable?

we shuold make natural selection a server-side variable.

turn it off and you can have a gorge race in the ready room or something equally interesting

I hate the scores also and 2 claws up in favour of scores made server sided so we could play in servers where there arent any, more teamwork thatway.

Everyone I talk to in NSNZ is in favor of having no scoreboard if this is what the community wants why is it not being done?

BTW after asking around modns I found this

NSNZ is my community and from the looks of it alot of ppl want it around here too. If they made it a veriable then at least it would be the indervidual communitys choice on how they run there servers.

This is a team game ffs why should any one indervidual "win"

NSNZ is a big enough community .. no harm listening .. after all .. a consensus in one might be reflected in most other communities .. but yeah .. nsnz isn't the community .. its a small part ..

I'd be keen for having the frag scores removed ..

Fangs .. (heh that's not real cream in the twinkie ) um NS didn't have scores originally (well for marines anyhow) .. I think they were really brought in with CO_ in mind .. but they lead to alot of rambo hive-camping and ip-camping at the endgame to get your 'frag score' up so you can go 'WOO I WIN!!' at the end .. which kindoff defeats the purpose of a teambased game

I'd be keen to have frag scores removed from NS_ games .. I don't really care if they're in CO_

Anyhow .. just my 2 cents

I'll try not to drag this -even more- into another 'should kills/deaths exist on the scoreboard', as the topic wasn't created for that, but I will say this:

QUOTE (Balmark @ Apr 18 2005, 09:18 PM)

Do you remember the week prior to and after marine scores were implimented? I know I saw -no- change in rambos, ip camping, and hive camping. To be quite honest, I've very rarely seen someone say, "WOO I WIN!!" at the end of the game in regards to their score. This seems to just another myth directed towards better players.

Previous to marine scores, anyone who wanted to check their kills would just type 'status' in console anyway, this just made it easier.

Now, if a server wants to run a plugin like this, that's their prerogative. But to remove it from NS_ all together is a big mistake in my opinion.

Scores on the marine team are more than just something to look at. For a commander in a pub, they're the deciding factor for who gets what weapons and equipment. No [good] commander is going to drop a jetpack, hmg, and welder to the player with a 1:7 score when they have 3 players with a 3:1 or better ratio on their team. Now, one could argue that they should share the wealth and give equipment to these lower skilled players, but how fun is it playing with a team where the jetpackers die 15 feet out of spawn to the lone skulk? Or they die to the 2 ocs that they just haaaad to try to kill with an hmg.

true .. I guess the 'WOO I WIN!' is limited to the Oceania servers, you get one every round .. pity .. well .. not a pity for the rest .. just a pity for Oceania

hmm one of the plugins evidence mentioned has an option to show the commander the marine score .. might be an option

The servers in AUS/NZ are riddled with rambo 'I WIN' players :/ it gets annoying having 3-4 onos devouring over an IP at end game .. can't wait til I'm back in Europe

Its just the fact trying to get some servers to run mods can be difficult thats why it would be better if it was a serverside veriable or make it that only the commander can see k:d.

If you have never seen "woo I win" come play on recoil servers

Just download the out of date amx plugin, modify it yourself so it'll work with the current version (instead of getting someone else to do it for you) and .. then .. install it on your own server.. simple solution .. ( the recoil servers are yours?)

You'll get more satisfaction out of it than demanding from Flayra and crew to implement it because the NSNZ community says so.. *shrug*

I wouldnt have a problem doing that. However I havent the faintest clue how :s As for me not reading the rules origonally this thread was started to talk about the existance of an amx mod which is completely fine

the reason the scoreboard hasnt been taken out is because in NS you can have a better score than anyone else on the server and you can still lose the game. people that say "i win" in a serious matter at the end of an NS game are either new to the game or just plain ignorant.

I see it in about 3 out of 5 games I play regardless of if the game is combat or classic.

What I see far more often is players making comments about their score throughout the game. Though in a game like NS Combat its all about making kills really so it's quite natural, but in the standard game mode players should be working towards the greater decisive goals that don't solely rely on players making kills that constitutes for a Combat game.

Too many times do I see players play standard mode like Combat, ( the reasons are for another topic ) and only there do you see comments relating to score. In those games standard mode is another way to facilitate a players' desire to play in a deathmatchesque manner where team objectives don't matter much and players seem to just "go with the flow".

Hey I think there's really something wrong with the scoreboard ?! I mean if 2 people brag about their score in an online game it means there's a real problem ! omg where is NS going !?

I always check the scoreboard at the end of a game to see how far up the list I am.

But never do I disregard commander orders, or teamplay, in favour of frags. And I never mention my score in the RR.

I vote to keep the scoreboard in.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
Jeez, of all the things to get annoyed about, players getting excited about getting a lot of kills seems to be like a rather trivial matter.

There is a sticky thread in I&S that talks about the scoreboard. There are some good ideas there.

I was playing on a server today, we had no fades and both the other hives were locked down. I went fade to clear one of the hives, which I did. I then asked if anyone could put up the hive, everyone said no. within the next min there were 2 more fades.

PPL when you have one hive and already have a fade go put up the dam hive.

Of course all fades died hive was taken back and I f4ed and left
