And I guarantee that it is hive 1 armor, based on surviving fights as a skulk with 1 hp before anyone is at level 2, meaning I had just enough time to regen 1 hp before fleeing.

Dunno if it works this way, but seems that you would have armor 1 at start. Then pickup armor 2, with the first unlock (leap for skulk), and armor 3 for second unlock (xeno for skulk).

Like I said, I don't know if it works that way, but seems like it should.

Yeah, it's hive 2. Get a friend on an emtpy server to test it using a single pistol shot.

It's hive one. Before innate regen, it took exactly 9 lmg shots to kill a skulk. Now it takes 10 providing you don't take your time about it.

It was hive two prior to 3.0, now I don't know, and I can't be bothered to try out myself.

    I thought his thread topic was the perfect desciption for combat.... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And I also believe it is hive 2 and stays hive 2 all the time. At least thats the reason I justify the use of a lvl 3 lmg+mines <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Trust me, it's been hive one for a long time.

so you are all saying that hive levels absorbs increasing amounts of dmg?
  • CxwfCxwf Join Date: 2003-02-05 Member: 13168Members, Constellation
    Yes.

Hive 1---2 points of damage remove 1 point of armor
Hive 2---2.5 points of damage remove 1 point of armor
Hive 3---3 points of damage remove 1 point of armor

(ignoring the question of how much damage is dealt to armor vs hp)

    Just to be different.

    It's hive 3 armour.

well i know the carapace upgrade is 3rd hive equivalent, like all the others, so i really wouldnt b surprised <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

If you mean getting leap in combat will improve your armor absorbtion, no.

    *tests actual CO game*

At level 1--its hive 1 armor
At level 2--its still hive 1 armor

Didn't feel like checking if it changed with further levels, or with carapace. But the default is most definately hive 1.
  • NGENGE Join Date: 2003-11-10 Member: 22443Members
He ment a level 3 upgrade, I believe. Upgrades are not effected by the amount of hives, so I believe he was referring to chamber level.
  • CxwfCxwf Join Date: 2003-02-05 Member: 13168Members, Constellation
Well, yes, DaJMasta was...but a dozen people before him were arguing about the hive-level of base armor. So I was answering them.

    So so far :

    - 5 votes for 1 hive
    - 5 votes for 2 hive
    - 1 vote for 3 hive ( go esuna ! )
    - 2 votes for combat to be renamed to comabat

Any of the dev's wanna confirm ?

Still seems that in combat buying the unlocks for different attacks, would increase the armor. I mean in NS mode you get your second hive it gives you leap, and third gives xeno, and those extra hives give extra soak. Just seems natural to me that buying hive 2 weapon, and hive 3 weapon in CO would do basically the same thing.

do we need to concentrate on this?

    Interesting theory there...

*goes off to test effects of buying hive abilities*
  • CxwfCxwf Join Date: 2003-02-05 Member: 13168Members, Constellation
    *actually tests*

Nope, no change. Hive 1 it is, all the time.

That's too bad. Would be interesting to see what difference it made, if any.
