Need recommendations
I'm looking to order a new motherboard, and I was wondering what online retailers people prefer. What have your experiences been like?
My bro ordered a PC from them and it needd returning under warranty after 3 months. They returned it and managed to total it in transit (not the Hard drive luckily). Then they took it back and returned it and now my brother's noticed that the front two (the most conveniently placed) USB slots don't work.
I think they're a UK-based company, but in any case, don't use them.
I use tigerdirect and newegg all the time and are great. except my latest by from newegg (but its more of fedex then newegg them selfs with shiping my tower back and fourth between two spots)
I bought my comp from tigerdirect.com, Their service was good and didn't take too long to get here. The only thing about my transaction that I didn't like was that I forgot to fill out $150 in rebates. But, that was my fault.
Newegg or ZipZoomFly (stupid name, but they are good, sometimes cheaper than newegg and every bit as reliable)
i oredered all my computer parts from newegg. i also ordered some lights and some neat fans from Xoxide. its a pretty cool site.
I usually go to Fry's, but I like looking around and playing with the stuff they have on display. :X You can shop Fry's online at outpost.com.
Newegg and Zipzoomfly are okay, there's also Pricewatch.com but that's not actually a retailer. There's also geeks.com, but I've never actually bought anything from them before. ^^

Xoxide and FrozenCPU are good for modding supplies (fans, lights, etc...), but for LED's, use http://www.LSDiodes.com
As for computer parts, TigerDirect is very good, especially their retail outlets.

Cheaper than any of the online retailers mentioned so far. ESPECIALLY Newegg.

expecially newegg? WTH new egg is one of the cheapest online retailers so how can it be especially newegg? I think talesin hates anything that alot of people like just for that reason
The only thing I usually see at Frys that is cheaper than newegg are the harddrives that have like 50 dollar rebates and the motherboard/cpu combos. Frys overcharges video cards especially. A 9800 pro 128mb is like 250$ at Frys, while on newegg the same one is around 180$. The combos are also good, but they are very limited in choices. None of amd 64bit combos at a very good price are 939 pin, just mostly 754 pin.

newegg is great for finding information on parts, and often times they have a fairly good price. Their shipping with fedex is also top notch. However, lately their prices have been a bit on the high side, and free shipping is hard to find from them (it used to be commonplace). They have just recently setup a pricing system such that if a particular item starts selling really well, or they get low on stock of a certain item, the price on that item automatically rises. What usually happens is that someone discovers a good deal, plasters it all over internet message boards, and as more and more people buy into it, the price rises and the deal isn't so hot anymore...

Overclockers UK - Ordered my computer from there, and it didn't asplode when i opened it, so i guess that's a good thing. Salland Automatisering? - A dutch shop, quick deliveries, and located about 45 minutes drive away.
Scan Computers. I have my own trade account set up there, so I get everything cheaper. So long as I remember to ring them up and order from my account manager...
Other than that Savastore/ Watford Electronics, and Simply Computers. All in the UK.
