Motd

MOTD NS
I'm running a 18 Player Win32 NS Server (66.28.238.21:27025 ), and one of the 1st things I noticed when I first started playing NS, is that there is no message of the day displayed when you log on a server (a la CS). The MOTD.txt is right there clear as day though. Is there any command you can use to get this to be displayed? It would really help to advertise the Server's Website for stats and etc. I was thinking about just loading up AdminMod to do this, but AdminMod + Win32 =

So far, since the 1.02 patch, the server has been running great. Lag is hardly noticeable even when the server is clearly overloaded. The only time you really realize you are pinging 200 is when you open up the scroeboard and a solid row of pings ranging from 200 to 400 is staring at you in the face....but even then...you don't notice it during gameplay. I wish CS was like that lol

motd uses the tooltips so if you have them turned off you will not see the motd

    I see mine just fine

edit the motd.txt and turn on tooltips

Ok then that just sucks. I turned tooltips off a long time ago (got to be very annoying (DING!)) and I would say 70% of people have them off as well. That kinda blows - although i don’t ever really recall seeing a MOTD when they were on... hmm May be a little futile in asking - but is there any other way to get the MOTD to display on a connection?

I don't know what the limitations of AdminMod's scripting capabilities are, but I'd (if I knew how) would write a plugin that would turn tooltips on (if they are off), display the MOTD then turn them off (if they were off in the first place)

That probably couldn't be done, though.

Yeah, thats why I use a consgreet AdminMod plugin to display my MOTD when people connect.

AdminMod works great for my CS server and I want to use it with NS - but I've heard it's extremely flakey and plus I'm running Win32. What are you using? Any suggestions?

The standard MOTD in NS only show's up in a little box down to the right, it only show the first line of the MOTD.
