uhh... 2 man or 32 man? On how many MHZ?

    Sure you can run a 32 man server on 200mhz. Just wont run very well <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

you gave absolutely NO specs on this server whatsoever.
  • NGOwnerNGOwner Join Date: 2002-12-11 Member: 10543Members
The servers are AMD XP2400s with 512 MB RAM.

    W2KPro is the OS.

those cant handle 32 NS players...

Most those can handle is about 24.... maybe 25 or 26, if ya tweak it well.

i have an athlon 2400 for a ns server, the specs are fine for 32 players, but thats not nearly enough ram. try 1.5 GB or 2 GB. as soon as you get around 20, its going to start using swapfile like mad.

That's RAM overkill something fierce. I've been running rental HL servers for over three years. The most RAM a HL process will use is about 150 MB. And that's a fully loaded, fully tricked out HL server.

2 GB of RAM for a single server process will leave about 1.7 GB of RAM free. It's a waste of perfectly good RAM.

But to each his own. Remember, these are servers, not clients. Server memory requirements are completely different from client requirements.

But you're also talking about a HL Mod that defies the rules of HL server requirements...I'd be testing them out first, and see what you need from the stress tests!

and what mod were you running, and how many players have you had?

hlds + ns on windows 2000 uses STANDARD around 75 MB of ram stock.

with Amxmodx, metamod, hlguard, and misc metamod plugins, it jumps to around 120 MB

as you add more plugins (i have 30 amxmodx plugins which isnt uncommon) and more players to the mix the ram usage goes way up.

i have seen hlds use more than 263 MB of ram, so 512 generally isnt enough if you have other services running on the machine.

i know a guy that has a 24 man co server, and he says when its loaded down, it uses about 1.2 gig of ram.

more ram > not enough ram

i have been running hl servers since hl came out.

recently signed up for this hoster? very disappointed. very! he lies too. he says no matter the slots from 2 to 32 it is 74.99 but i have been to the site before and it offers 12 slots for only 35 dollars. He lies. you can buy less than 32 slots at a discount. this is the worst host ever. way worse than Griffin Run. i been a loyal customer for him for 1 month. Well not loyal because i wouldnt be refunded my money, so i had to stay for 1 month. It sucked. your ip address and stuff changes if you want it to be constant you have to pay extra. Server sucks. DO NOT BUY

    ok thx???

    My God.

The pricing above constitutes a special offer to those who frequent the NS forums. Ever heard of those before? Promotions? Sales?

The pricing on our website has nothing to do with the pricing posted here. That's our standard pricing for our products.

Besides, you are not even looking at the right pricing. Remember that this is a dedicated server, 1 computer = 1 server?

I'm discounting Rental Rigs and retaining OS control to run your servers for you. Not shared platform gameservers.

And TripplA is not, and has likely never been, a customer of ours.

Is it really extra to get a static IP...

In the entire server industry, i have NEVER heard of paying extra for a static IP...

Do you have other specials for 3.0ghz+ servers?

    Dual xeons ftw tbh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

oh and ngowner who do you expect us to belive.

Some on advertising their services in what is for the mojrity a help forum.
Or some on caliming to be rating the service for which your shamlessly advertising.

For ns servers especially I recomend the Athlon 64 or Dual xeons. That's what all mine run on <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

now THATS rediculous. hosting servers without static ips.

hell, you can get a static ip by using a router.

    NUBCAEK.

    lol nubs

you dont need a seperate ip for each gameserver. Just run em on different ports.

using 1 ip for 1 gameserver is against the rules of RIPE as well, since its not needed (reed argument above).

Another thing: if you dont plan to buy from them, just shut up <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
