[copy and pasted from other forum with same topic, lmao]

I am, indeed, a cat lover (RIP, my kitty), but I see it is that it is really out of control. You have places being flooded with strays, and it's sad really. Better to have the one shot, as compared to having constant roadkill. Wouldn't want to look at that, would you? Now instead of just doing whatever, it can be made positive with selling to the people who eat cats. Overpopulation is devastating, for the most part.

Also, if you don't want your cat sniped, put a collar on it, keep it inside, and dear god, please sterilize it.

Might not make sense, but it gets it across.

    ...and Newtin's eyes are scary.

Oh yeah, I agree if they are pests but how did the problem get that bad in the first place? Besides, who eats them?

Still I guess anything goes well in a kebab.

    Kitteh :O

This is stupid. We don't hunt dogs, why should we hunt cats?

There's a problem with overpopulation of people. Lets hunt them! :X

Quite simply: Dogs aren't number 1 in the animal kingdom for "most wildlife kills per year".

If you lived near me you'd understand. Im tired of doing yard work and finding multiple dead animals that haven't even been eaten.

I think there's too much room for mistake. My cat wears a collar and loves the outdoors, so I let him run about outside when he wants to. If someone killed him because they couldn't see a collar or it somehow got lost or unattatched, I'd probably send them to a hospital.

People who see rottweilers on the street tense up. People who see beagles or poodles do not. Something as small as a housecat is not a scary thing and I'm pretty sure house cats (even the feral ones) do not chase down small children and elderly women, intent on murdering them.

It becomes a problem when for example, a stray cat slaughtered a family of rabbits and a couple ducks (I live near a river that runs through town). See, I don't give a damn if a cat eats to live. These animals were laying around, not eaten, in a thousand pieces. I had to clean it all up. Next cat I see in my yard will die.

Heh, I am English I just can't sleep (it's 5:27am here). Hence the ludicrous amount of posts in such a short space of time. And the surreal nature of some of them .

Rabbits have been killed in great numbers too and they also (rarely) attack humans. They also don't leave dead carrot gibs all over CWAG's yard. We still created myxamatosis.

In the end we like killing stuff and 'overpopulation' is a good excuse. Such a shame as the only thing I kill is wasps... and even then I always politely ask them to leave and/or entice them outside with jam and music (marmalade covered flutes ftw!)

I'd back it. Stray animals are a nuisance, especially when they begin to become numerous as they are in many areas.

It is ****ing impossible to keep a collar on a cat who doesn't wear one. I have gone through 6 on my cat before I gave up all together. Still, if I caught you shooting it I would without a second thought beat you to death with your own kidneys.

I walked my cat once. But it was more a process of me walking and the cat's corpse scraping against the ground after me.

Not even counting the amount of cat haters who will just remove the collar afterwards and claim they 'didn't know'. Yeah right, as if you didn't recognise the cat you've been complaining about to the neighbours for the last year.

There is no way you could keep a track on it, heck, kids could go around killing them just for fun :/

Enjoy your cat corpse, but if I catch you within 50 feet of my cat you won't be enjoying or disenjoying much of anything anymore. Capeeshe?

Hunting cats? Why can't we hunt things like Raccoons and Bueruacrats?

What will tranqs do? Are you going to collect vats full of cats? Maybe relocate them to the more cat-less areas of america? Set up cat farms and milk them for all they're worth? Maybe they could run treadmills and be the latest source of renewable energy. They could be the next catalyst for a major economic revolution.

A kitten meltdown would be catastrophic though.

    http://www.uvm.edu/~dpelkey/crazy.jpg

    Anyone?

That said... no, it should not be legal for every random joe schmoe to pick up his gun or shovel and kill the friendly local cat, or next door neighbour cindy's Kittens just because he has a grudge against cats. They should hire cat catchers or allow people to bring in cats to determine if people want to look after them as their own, or if they're put down.

Gah, I don't know, but their proposed system leaves too much open for cruelty and unjust killings.

I used to live on a council housing estate (provided at reduced rates for poor people like my family) and it was overrun with feral cats so I can understand the problem.

Also I don't know if the same is true for America but over here if you run over a cat you don't have to stop/report it/care but if you run over a dog its a crime.
