Server List

<div class="IPBDescription">We're being overrun!!!</div> Okay.. a lil question regarding servers. When I try and do a Update or whatever to get a server list there are an insane number of them. So how do people recommend finding servers for NS? If I Update the list once will it be saved somewhere or something?

    When I first ran NS back in version 1.0, I also got a boatload of servers. My solution? Let it grab them all, go eat dinner, and when I come back, there's a nice compact list. Not only that, from that day on, I've never had a problem with getting all the CS and TFC and DoD servers in addition to the NS ones. The only problem with this method is that there is no way to see the entire server name in the server viewer... so if the server name is something like "Natural Selection Is The Best Game Ever - 1.02" you can't see the 1.02 part. Even worse is when the server is 1.01 or 1.00 and has a long name you can't see the version in.

    Simply come outta the game and reload it. The server's will ping normally (make sure u have the filter for NS only on, and dont have anti-cheat on coz it dont work)

    Just filter the server list when you are in the multiplayer menu. Select "NS" for the game, and you can add "is not empty" & "is not full" (do NOT click "anti-cheating"). That way you'll only get servers that have players and have room.
    Note, if you're starting the game from the desktop icon that was created when you installed, the filter will not show "NS" as an option (this is the reason you are scanning 30K servers...they are EVERY HL & HL MOD out there!) That shortcut is bugged. Delete it, go to start, programs, Natural Selection, start NS...Click and hold the option, and drag it to the desktop. Now you got a working icon.
    Another good way to find servers is GameSpy. If you play on the internet, you MUST have picked it up along the way. You'll find the servers under Half-Life's/HL MOD section. This is a bit better than the built-in utility because, as Fieari said, the built-in browser clips server info, Game Spy doesn't.
    As far as All Seeing Eye goes...don't you have to pay for the service after the trial is over?
