How Do I Fix This?

hmm
I get this when I viewdemo a demo.
The "dropped structure" indicator icons are there permanently and all resource towers have that weird res collected bug. Same thing happens on marines.

I see. I had that idea too, I'll give it a shot. Also, I noticed that using viewdemo on a demo that has footage for more than one map plays only the first map only. I have some important CAL-Finals footage to get to on my demo but using playdemo crashes me. Any tips?

i think it's just a bug with HL, I think when the map used to change the demo would stop recording but they must have changed it. In source when you record a demo and the map changes it starts a new demo and names them like this "demo1.dem" "demo2.dem"

Normally happens when you load a new demo after watching a previous one, or sometimes it just happens at random when you skip to scenes during the demo.

Just quit ns and start the demo again, fixes it.

    Buggy demos ftw.

1024x768x32x85 resized to 512x384. OK, that solves the problem with the spam on my screen. But what about the multiple maps on a single demo problem?

oh, probably the resize threw me off, because the HUD text and icons look so small in comparison to the viewmodel and surrounding models.

    Also, try the following:
    dem_forcehltv
    spec_mode 1

Its sort of a bandaid solution and your viewmodel may not display, but it might get rid of those entities.
(p.s. type "entities", while all that mess is displayed and see if any entities are being repeated etc)

Okay, looks like the "load the demo first and then don't mess with it for capturing" trick works, as I thought. Thanks to those who suggested it anyways. Also, I "fixed" my demo with GeekPlayer which unlocked the second map. Thanks anyways guys.

I've always found viewdemo to be very broken. I always use playdemo.

That explains the pro US gamers. 4-dimensional resolutions!

Yea, erm, viewdemo = the devil.

Any attempt to use the video controls breaks everything. Once I used the "startmovie xxx 25" command (No, I wasn't making an NS pr0n movie) and it promptly blew up my shiny 250GB HDD. gg.

Why are you surprised? As long as console isn't down it will transform every second into 25 bitmaps. That's how you make HL movies.
