Place In Competetive Gaming

<div class="IPBDescription">focused on user groups</div> Competitive gaming in all e-sports teams has a structure. What is NS teams competitive structure, can it or should it be changed?

For example in the large competetive CS clans you get:

- Clan Founder(s), Manager(s).

- Division Manager, Captain/Team leader, Players.

Within the clan you get people that pass information between the higher management department and team division departments. Organising scrims, interviews, training, files and so forth.

I am just wondering, because I do not know an awful lot about NS competetive gaming how NS clans are set up and if it is at all as similar?

Thanks, in advanced.

EDIT: Crap I posted in wrong tab. Please phase to Competitve Games Discussion. Thanks.

That's how Exigent is structured. Most (all?) other NS clans just have a leader and members.

I am the leader of #console-ns but I dont do anything but give them support and keep them in line. The schedueler usually does the most work.

... Since when is titler in console?

Oh, and god's right, but most of the time the leader is also the scheduler.

from the clans i've been in, thats what they've all been.
although, there was one time where we tried everything horizontally. no one was higher than anyone, just some people had to do crap others didnt.

You usuallly have a general idea of positions. You need at least 2 good fades, a good lerk and a good comm, and usually your fades are also good rines, but if they aren't you need some of them too.

The comm is in charge of strats and what not for the rine side, and the team leader usually handles the alien side.

LoC's leaders really don't do anything.. so I end up doing everything. Finding scrims, scheduling, strats and stuff... I do it all.

Basically a NS clan is compromised of 6-10 members, all of them playing. NS isnt big enough to warrant any "management teams". Unless you're a conglomerate of course.

In Reflect we've got the manager, leader and scheduler. I, as the manager, works with sponsors and makes sure all of our infrastructure is running properly (Website, server, vent). Chaos Killer, the leader, takes care of scrim finding mostly and schedules. Our scheduler doesn't really do much <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
For recruiting we pretty much use a voting system to make sure new recruits and our members don't have personal problems once together in the clan.

In obs we have Bozo who started the clan but never plays NS anymore. He comes on IRC occasionally & readds people to the userlist (like me) periodically.
Saltz is the defacto 'leader' because he shouts more than anyone else & the general strategy in every scrim is to try & **** him off as much as possible (thus causing more shouting & whining from him) and we continually make derogatory comments about his mother. He also advertises for scrims because he likes to feel important. Almost forgot this: <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><villain> Saltz reads ns magazines all the time <villain> hes always writting down match strategies in class<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Dirm is probably 'manager' or 'co-leader' since he doesn't shout as much as Saltz & he's moderately nice to most people in the clan (as in you can tell if he's joking when he tells you to f**k off & die). He also is/was our Commander so we've got more respect for him than Saltz (he gives us meds & guns & asks us nicely to build stuff for him also no one has any respect for Saltz). When Saltz isn't around we ask Dirm to shout at us & whine for 20 minutes after we 2 - 0 about how bad we were so we don't forget what a normal scrim is like.
I guess Gunner fits in there somewhere as he pays for our monthly server rent & is one of our pro-Lerks when he's not being knifed next to a hive.

Really its just Saltz making the decisions with Dirm doing it when he's not around or off having a sulk & the rest of us just play.

that kind of sounds like <3

mrben is the dude who does all the work, he also spends most matches shouting at people for his various fade deaths, then there's me who gets defacto seniority because i founded the clan and make jokes about ben + tjosan even though i actually never do anything constructive, lastly i guess tjosan is seen as a quasi leader simply because he has managed to remain in the clan for so long without quitting ns or getting cut by ben

    In Co.

We have our leader who does nothing but call alien strats (pretty basic). I do all the scheduling, homi does all the nazing and marine stuff.

Smaller teams are typically better, you grow together and get better together. You could take someone less skilled that joins the clan and they will eventually get to the level of the rest of the clan, if the clan is small. In larger clans, I notice a lot of individual skill but no teamwork. CS is a lot different, in that most NS clans don't take it too serious. Unless you're an e-sports conglomerate (everyone else is taking shots <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

We have Saltz that calls strats and blames everybody for everything and the rest of us that swear and question his sexuality and make humourous remarks as to the sexual exploits of each others mothers.

We're (el'pheer) doing amusing at best. We got 2 leaders but the other one of them mostly does the scrim requests and gets us to play. Add to that the hes the only comm we got, sure we got like what.. 14 members. But its practically impossible to get enough players for a match at some times. And if we do, we have some guys playing who havent played the game for a long time either because they have a "life" or their addicted to WoW. Sure theres other reasons too.

Now the Vent life.. hum, sometimes theres few talking about a chocolatecake someone made, and maybe he should have added some peaches in it.. REALLY INTERESTING IMO :E .. during a match, anything can happen. there can be someone chatting a a chick, or somone goes for a cigarette. Just yesterday our comm got the same error from steam 3 times in a row. On our marine side, pure pleasure to the rest of us. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Sure we all try to mock each other in irc/vent all the time, and theres sometimes few who get pist but they just leave vent/irc so there isnt any major fights of anyshort. The clan has been up a long time now, since the 1.0x days, im not myself sure since im not an original clan member. We'v had 2 clan lans last year, about +10 of us showed up, it was a blast ofcourse, so we're somewhat obligated to stay in the clan since we're all just good friends nowadays.

    Sorry if this text is confusing, <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Each CAL team has a manager, a leader and a scheduler.

The manager owns the team. He changes the roster and talks with admins when they see fit.

Leaders are the people you talk to about scrims and players that might be good for the clan.

The scheduler is some useless guy that you go to for scrims and matches <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

When wage was around we had a leader (the dude who payed for everything and delt with the cal/ugl complaints/issues) and then 3 assistant leaders, and the four of us discussed all of the probelems. The scheduler <i>is</i> the one who has to do the most work on a team, and I have been on teams where that person is the leader, and many where that person was not the leader. As the scheduler and assistant leader for wage I called all of the strats for alien side, scheduled all matches (obviously), did all of the recruiting, and found all of the scrims, I was so busy doing all that, that even though we normally played 7-8 scrims a night I would normally only get in about 3-4.

A panda should talk about how leadership was in their clan.

Oh right I forgot that. Let me get around to deleting you again.

With obscure, we've got it setup sort of like the backstreet boys. We're all amazingly ****, but at least I'm pretty. Or maybe more like congress, being the opposite of progress and bitching a whole crapload. Also a bit like Girls Gone Wild, except its more like Gunners Mom Gone Wild.

Malibu_Stacey is the guy that tapes down his +forward key at the start of every scrim and ends up with the 0-25 score against an AFK team. But thats okay, because he has a british accent, sporadic activity and on a good day a temper as aweful as mine. His catchphrase is either "Saltz you suck [wong]", or "[Hump] you Saltz". Rumor has it he might even have recently learned to bunnyhop.

Come to think of it, he's alot like Ungod - who mostly plays WoW, but occasionally still gets around to us to yell into his microphone and disrupt any productive activity. His favorite past-time besides smoking weed is calling himself SaltzBad and spamming his "I LOVE [beef torpedo]" macro. Malibu and Ungod combined are essentially our comic relief team - except they're more stress-inducing then relieving, and are rarely all that funny. Thats okay though, my blood pressure is dangerously low anyway.

And thats just one section of our multi-faceted team. We have an endless array of colorful speciality roles - parche for dieing to anyone that pulls a pistol, Fred for the punchline "I can TOO play NS!" (always gets a laugh), me for procastrinating everything from eating to breathing and I suppose Dirm for walkerfading ++ . Thats it, we're pretty much the Keystone Cops of Delta - unprofessional fumblers but oddly proud of the fact. Because secretely we treasure the knowledge that if we weren't retards, we'd be do awesome. TRUELY POWERFULLY AWESOME I TELL YOU.

Oh, and don't ever pull a knife on Gunner. Seriously not cool.

Edit : Before anyone feels left out, ultranewb has a squeeky toy. Phantom is asian and has a small [teeny weeny]. There.

Since I've played in several multi-game clans, I can assure you it's far from required. Again, titles are always for show. They aren't paid positions, they are for fun. The title is more or less a way of appearing professional.

Anyone with experience will know that the title means jack, a clan is organized if it has people in it that are listened to by other people. The command structure always forms by itself.
