<div class="IPBDescription">concept by reek drawn by denun 3d by me</div> ok i have sent all the work back off to reek its owner, but i havent seen him around, all i can think hes on summer holidays or something, i dont even know if hes got the work or not, and i really want to see it skined and animated, so how about it guys, its my first alien from some ones concept in a new program to me
"was a little rusty at first and disorentated, yet over whelmed at its simplstity" but getting there with the milk shape

    ok so last i heard he said it was perfect and he wanted it,
    but i havent heard back, and i really want to see it skinned / animated and what not even some attemps in karra style and fasion, also doing some leg work, so if your up to the tackel and wanna give it a shot find reek

    ok so i ran a 5th clean, and refreash of textures, no triangles removed,
    did a poly count as was 5815 so 814 per back leg and 719 per front so not to bad
    for triangles,

    so it looks like this polys 5815

    then i ran a smooth on it just once and buffed the poly up to 34887
    and it looks like this now















    not bad for a 3 day alien, yeah 3 days mask spike tail day one, legs body day two bum and welding day 3

    *note this is the left right side image, i cant work out how to turn faces around in milk shape, so there all back images, mainly cos 80% of the right side is mirors
    any one know how to flip them

    its poly by poly modelled..inverted faces happen if you connect the vertices in the wrong order. you cant just connect the dots in any order, because the order tells in wich direction the face should face (uhm...i hope you know what i want to say...)
    i dont know about milkshape.. but its like that in some other programs i know

    in this case it could be possible that there are overlapping faces from sluggish vertex manipulation.. they can get inverted that way too..
    nah.. i dont really care, it was just a suggestion..

    ok basicaly its was just to perdantic and manotaness to do every triangle clock wise, consitering to access most verts as usual, needed two or more views which had to be cheacked for being the right projection

    for a three day alien just made half of every thing merged it them mirrored it and filled the seams its not to bad, the mask for it's head was free hand the spikes teeth claw were free hand dummbies cloned streatched skewed what ever, for the theeth claws, mirroring is a bit silly as it inverted the face's for me, i just thought milk shape had a tool to convert them back, it does but its still a rather manual task, its got a skelton and its welded to the bone,

    yes your right the legs are primatives and i totaly skewed them in all the apropriate directions, if i pull the legs from the body, they look pritty hot, with exceptiong from maybe the back of the knee, as you can see them legs arnt cylenders any more


    me thinks i should just give it a base texture of black

    any way check out the progress shots from the artwork forum, design a alien yeah that stickie there *points =====> yeah from page 39+


    yeah them inverts above and below the knee were strange havent had it happen before now in milk shape, the welds for the for parts the joint and the latter part were rather close to the knuckle/knee i supose it could be sluggish, i had a bit of isses in that area cycleing thro verts as you do, was pulling some serious moves cycleing thro views and windows ta slam some faces on em and manipulate them to a viable shape

    ok it's not a sulk replacement, its more of a whole new alien, i went back over the design a alien thread in art work, *note cant be bothered linking*
    the idea came up on page 34, any way reeke intended it to be between a fade and a ono and carry smaller life forums was pritty armored and so on, then deunen did a wicked sketch of it and made it not much bigger than a vanilla rines upper body so smaller than a sulk i dont know my intened attacks on this thing in my opinion should be like head but, leap, impale and fury swip,

    also looking at the shape of its body it really doesnt have a head so i gave it a pivot point in the center of its body

    i like this thing reguardless, its really the first thing i designed strait from some one eles work for someone else, i jsut really want to see it skinned

    Just quit modeling, you won't get far with such messed up models which you don't want to fix.

    oh and why would i want to select every indovidual face and invert its polys when i can select all the polys with ignore back faces cheacked from the top veiw, pull them to front, then select all from the bottom view and pull all to front, then maybe

    i loged i got to bed and i had a attack of regreat

    hell you could be one interested in skinning it

    what i ment by what you quoted was in the free hand creation its just easyer to to get the face on there, it can be manotonuss and padantic trying to pick the three needed verts for said face out of a possable 17 in said area even from many veiws and there projection

    its easyer to get the face on then fix them latter basical being my first time with milk shape i was looking for a way to do it in 3 clicks instead of 10

    or holding down mulit keys, and editing 900+ faces sorry mint maybe you can exsperiment and find some easyer ways to invert your faces : )

    After you create a face, the face is selected. Just invert it at this point.

    i know its a hassle but in ms3d you must switch auto smooth on/off. You must keep it on while createing the faces so when one comes up inverted you just use ctrl+shitt+f. You cannot revearse if as -> off
