How do i edit .spr files and make my own?
I have GIMP and i spr viewer than can save to .bmps but it also saves a .qc file... what does that do?
Anybody have a link to a tutorial or walkthrough on how to create your own custom sprites?
any help would be appreciated <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Go here & scroll down to sprites -> <a href='http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?doc=1047496381-02062100' target='_blank'>http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?...496381-02062100</a>
You need both SprWiz & SprView which you can download from links on that page.
Use SprView to open the sprite you wish to edit & then if it is a single image click save bitmap in the file menu or if it is many images in 1 file click save sequence. Also check the sprite information on what type of Transparency mode it uses as you will need this information for when you recompile the sprite using SprWiz. I prefer Alpha Test probably because I started off editing textures & sprays which use a similar method of transparency.
The 3rd thing you need is a program to edit bitmaps. You can use MS Paint but I recommend a program called Wally which is linked on the page I pasted above in the textures section (above the sprites section).
Load the bitmap(s) you saved using SprView in Wally, edit & save.
Then run SprWiz & follow the prompts (remember to select the right transparency mode or it might look weird).
Save your new sprite to your /ns/sprites/ folder. Best to rename the original sprite to something like .old first so if your new one isn't what you expected you can always go back to the default.
Thats the short version.
After that post was made, all of you should of SUYF.
Because one post is not divisible by 8.
