<div class="IPBDescription">Star Wolves!</div> You remember the first time you played Diablo 2? You know, being online till 6. It can happen again.

<a href='http://www.excalibur-publishing.com/starw.htm' target='_blank'>Teh Addiction!</a>

The game plays very easy: You have a big mothership and 2-6 casual ships. Every ship can be tweaked via laser, missles, shields and different upgrades. Furthermore can every charakter be tweaked via a skilltree. Every charakter has his own uniqe skilltree. But all charakters share some basic things like piloting, gunnery and so on.

From the menu you pick a mission and there it goes. It's incredibly well designed. Every time you say to yourself: " Ok it's 3 in the moirning... again.. and I have to stop now " theres something new to buy in the blackmarket or a new fun skill, like luck, which makes you harder to hit for a few seconds or hacking, which makes an enemy ship calculate the millionth of pi <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Conclusion: Buy this game!

Pic is to big for the boards.

    For an equally lovely space game, though it's a stratgegy game (not building and stuff, but actual tactics and strategy and squads and stuff) check out Nexus: the Jupiter Incident. Wonderful graphics, great gameplay, confusing interface, but otherwise wonderful. Tough, too.

    If it's online, I fear for my life. I'm not going to repeat the Homeworld Multiplayer incident, where I was shamed by some guy and his 5 billion battlecruiser in 5 minute army.

    Seeing 6 walls of giant space ships close in on you from ever angle possible in a give 3 dimensions is one kind of terror I never want to experience again.

    Nexus and Homeworld are nothing alike. Nexus has NO building, no ship creation, only a fleet and complete customization over their power, weapons, shields, etc. And yes - it's multiplayer. The game is ENTIRELY about tactics.

    For some reason the demo download keeps cutting out before I even get 10 MB out of the 200+.

    Love this discription

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Action

    Clunk Click! Hone and tune a team of up to six rough, unskilled rooky pilots into a devastatingly effective, (fearless) fighting force. But wait, it ain't that easy Space Wolf! Like a spotty seventeen year old college freshman who's just bought a 1983 Nissan Sentra with his entire first term's grant, you start the game piloting a ship that looks like the dictionary definition of 'crap'!

    Awful controlls....even worse dialogue...only good thing is the graphics...
  • TyrainTyrain Join Date: 2003-01-03 Member: 11746Members
    Once you get into the controls they are pretty easy. The dialoges in the beginning are crappy but they get better later on.
  • AlignAlign Remain Calm Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 5216Forum Moderators, Constellation
    Yeah, only issue with the controls is moving to a specific point in space that isn't marked by a waypoint or station or anything. That gets a bit annoying.
    And the voice acting is also annoying. They could at least add a bit of crackling or static... preferably like homeworld series in fact.
    And the game crashed when a station blew up nearby <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Eh, tried it out briefly. For anyone who said it's a good looking game, the graphics really can't compare to Nexus. Nexus plays better, too. My favourite thing about Nexus is that every single thruster is shown and detailed. So for turning, thrust, rolling, etc, you can see each thruster blasting. I'd reccomend Nexus over this game. Nexus <i>rules</i>.

    Nexus really stole my heart. Homeworld was nice, but I don't like the traditional RTS style. I'm not knocking the build a fleet and rush thing, it's just not my style. I'll give Star Wolves more playtime, but I've been up like 20 hours and I'm not in a gaming mood.

    Is it just me or does that ship in the screeny look exactly like a Vasudan cruiser from Freespace 2?
  • TyrainTyrain Join Date: 2003-01-03 Member: 11746Members
    I suggest to try star wolves only on hard modus. Normal play will get boring after acquiring your sixth pilot.
