How To Hide The Hud?

<div class="IPBDescription">in commander mode?</div> Hi,

I did different searches, but to no avail. My question is rather simple:
I know you can hide the hud as a marine and as an alien, but is there a way to hide the hud for the commander? (I think this must work with cheats on, but I don't know what the command is. It is for taking screenshots).

Please help me, I'm in the dark here.

Thanks,
XtOf

    The comm hud is made up of a bunch of sprites. You need to replace the existing sprites with blank ones that have the same dimensions. In my opinion it really doesn't change much. And I'm not sure if those sprites are checked for consistency.

    Hi,

    I did delete some of the commander hud-sprites (these were the ones I could find, but there are more) in the spritesfolder:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->commandstatus
    commandbutton
    topdownbottom
    tomdowntop
    mainhud
    marinenode (<- not sure if this one influences the commander-hud)<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I did it on my own (not dedicated) server, and I didn't have to replace them with blank ones to make it work. So, I don't know if it needs consistancy when I join a dedicated server. Not that the later matters, as I don't plan to play this way. I just want to use it to make screenshots that are as clear as possible from the commander point-of-view.

    If anyone can help me more on this matter, please do so.

    Thanks,
    XtOf

    Hello mates,

    Thanks for the links - I knew about that version and that site - perhaps I might download it (as I have a low-end computer), as I think it might improve the performance in commander mode.

    These are the .spr I have deleted (but backed up of course)
    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->commandstatus
    commandbutton
    topdownbottom
    topdowntop
    mainhud
    marinenode (<- not sure if this one influences the commander-hud)
    logout
    selectall
    tile (<- not sure if this one influences the commander-hud)
    marinenode<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
    And this is the result (I have put two images together though):
    <img src='http://img235.exs.cx/img235/6957/shivacorebigpicturesuggestion1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    It all worked <b>very laggy</b>, I have to admit. That probably has to do with the fact that I just deleted the .spr-files and didn't replace them with blank ones.

    Thanks for the help thought,

    Yup. When you just delete the sprites, half life is constantly looking for them and returning errors. If I remember correctly your console should be spammed with error messages. That is what causes you to lag.

    yeah also, if you hope to remove the hud to see and click under it, it won't work. The buttons and map are still there, only invisible. So this would only be good for, say, a movie? Else, at least keep a line to mark the seperation between the clickable and non-clickable zone.

    You'll need to remove the sprites corresponding to the minimaps and the entity location dots as well to have a totally blank hud.

    Can't you just use a console command to remove the commander hud?

    I have an idea, why not have it removable with a keypress, like in Adobe Photoshop. Sometimes the extra windows like the layers and history and the tools get a bit crowded, so you hit "tab" to hide it all while you work, and then press tab again to unhide it when you need something from it
