Monotech Industries Urban Combat Carbine

Still lacking a bunch of detail, mainly on the back of the stock area, aswell as on the top tac rail. Looks a bit 'chunky' to me, a bit too wide, but meh.
(vaguely inspired by Sid's TSA SMG concept)

(EDIT : gah @ smoothing errors)

I can't get max6 to render in anything other than smooth + highlights.
    I feel like a boon.

It looks very good and unique... not your run-of-the-mill gun. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Make both the grips more p90 like and then I'll have to see it skinned before I can say much more...

It's not really too wide per se, but it's too fat. It doesn't look like it's made out of metal; or maybe it's made out of metal, but covered with foam. To be more specific, I think the sides need to be straighter, and the corners more defined. Maybe simply changing your smoothing groups will fix that; it's tough to say from the screenshots.

Press M, then click the Faceted under shader prop. then apply it to the model and render.

nice... youll probably have to be ready to do custom animations too... i bet you could use that olde p90s lmg fire anims and stuff.. but reload will have to be reanimated..

    Update:

Back of the stock needs more detail, and the magazine needs to be remodelled, most of the rest is final / finished.

    PC: 1690

    [old render]

i'm liking the changes you made between the last two renders, this new render looks much more polished than the last one, especially with the handles and the areas around the trigger guard

    nice work

compared to "the basics of weapon construction" it looks pretty weird.

I would like to see a bigger muzzle. its just too tiny.
  • TrakenTraken Join Date: 2004-11-14 Member: 32797Members
Beefing it up near the front (muzzle, foregrip?) will help it look a bit more balanced. Right now it looks like it literally weighs 20 lb on the back.

Also, for a magazine that big that barrel sure is small. It looks like you have 50mm bullets coming out of a 10mm hole. (Exaggeration but w/e)
  • HawkpulseHawkpulse Join Date: 2005-03-26 Member: 46480Members
well youve got 50 10mm or something it kind of needs to be big?

But then again so would the P90, or the Bizon-2 and similar.

Actually DarkSoul I believe you put the thumb of one hand through it, and the forefinger on the opposite hand through it.

Edit: Ill give it a shot at skinmeshing next week, anyone can feel free to skinmesh it in the mean time.
