Crouching Marine, Hidden Hitbox

<div class="IPBDescription">Devs or PT's?</div> I seem to be having trouble sometimes when skulking chrouched marines on ladders. Dont know why you would chrouch on a ladder (reduce target size maby) but anyway, i must have bit him five or six times, but just like in vents he failed to die.

Hhmmmm.... happen to anyone else?

Anyways, there are probably a few threads about this already but I couldnt find a developers or PT's comment on this in any of them.

If anyone knows the official story, please let me know.

    Yes ive had the same thing happen to me on a ladder, and in a vent, i got mad..

    i'm pretty sure flayra said this was known and being addressed. i imagine it's a somewhat more time consuming bug to fix than correcting armor values for upgraded marines, though.

    Its a known issue, and a known solution, go look in the Kharaa forums.

    Crouching lowers the hitbox. Instead of aiming for his chest, aim for his groin to ankles region. Biting that low will get hits, even in vents. It works for me.

    Warhound, I have to disagree. I'm mainly a skulk player (when I'm aliens), so I've seen all the marine bugs VS aliens. And on the ladder, I've bit them in just about every spot thinkable, and I don't think I've ever gotten a kill against a marine on a ladder.

    The two main ones are chasing a marine up a ladder, and chomping on his feet. That *never* does any damage. chomp chomp chomp chomp, nothing. Next, is chasing a marine down a ladder and chomping on his head all the way down, nothing. Lastly, is getting them in the side, which is hard (I think I've only done this once or twice, on the ladder at Triad Generator Array on Eclipse), and I don't think I got him then either.

    I believe i've had an experience with that as a Marine.

    I was inside a vents and we were just rushed and I took damage and went down to 48 health (50 armor doesn't do jack squat for marine). So while inside the vents, I had to reload and a skulk came in and started biting me. To my surprise I took no damage and blasted him and about .0000001 secs later another skulk comes from my left and I blast him while taking no damage. Wooo, boy was I surprised lol

    yeah I've almost stopped attacking marines crouched on a ladder/vent because of the number of times I've attacked and died even though I had the drop on the marine. Frustating but just have to wait for the marine to move to a more attack friendly position I guess whilst we wait for a fix.

    i have that problem when im skulking in a tunnel and the marine is in a vent crouched. its like the bite hits the sides of the vent instead of the marine himself.
