<div class="IPBDescription">NS2</div> When is it coming out? I can't play NS, cause I don't have the Half-life 1... and messing around with source files doesn't work... I need to get to play NS! I've heard so much about it that I can't wait to play it...

i paid 10 bucks for HL GOTYE more than 2 years ago, you can also get it online if you have the bronze half life 2 pack by upgrading to silver. NS is easily worth the 10 bucks.

And if i'm not mistaken, NS:Source will come out be4 NS2, and will be a port of the 3.0 game to the source engine with redone artwork and all that physics fun, but NS2 will be a complete standalone game released sometime later.

And about the HL1... I don't wish to buy it... I have HL:S which is enough... I am also greedy...

And DaJMasta... I have the silver pack... Where can it be gotten then?

If you have the Steam Silver Package you also have a valid HL1 key <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' />

So the same key that came with HL2 and was used to activate it, does also work for HL1?

you have silver you also have the steam back catalouge, which includes hl1.

Just open steam, select "play games" now if you have silver you will find hl2 css hl2dm cg cs tfc dod dmc op rio and "Half-Life" under the "my games" section. Right click Half-Life and select install.

Just follow the guide provided in the link above, it will guide you safely to the lands of NS <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' />

Here's a problem then... There ain't other games than CG HL:S, HL2DM, HL2 and CS:S there in the list...

Then you dont have the steam siler package, the gold package nor the hl2 collectors edition.

Its that easy. If you dont own one of the products, that are listed in the valid keys section, then you have little to zero chance, that you can install hl1.

You say that you have HL:S.
this leaves to possibilitys:
1- You do have the back catalog, but are unable to find hl1 under the my games list, although it is there
2- You are wrong and dont have HL:S

In fact, I do have it... The Collector's Edition pack of HL2 is infact considered as a silver/gold 50-50% at Steam...

Collectors edition comes with the back cataloge.

I am 100% shure on this. You can install Half-Life and play NS. PERIOD

Well the problem goes further (sad enough).

There are several editions of the collectors edition. These editions dont match each other.

Small example: The uk one is a shiny metall box and does contain HL:S, but not the back cataloge.

Then there is the Americna one which comes in a huge black box and costs 40$ more than the uk one.

It is a little bit irritating, but i am trying to sort things out and include them in my guide <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' />

Yeah, what a rip. I mean, I ordered my gold from steam but COME ON! $100 for a cardboard box and the BLC which I already owned?.. sigh. Whatever. Valve FTL.

4 years ago i bought cs retail version... i never had hl1 but i can play ns.....

i think counter strike retail version just cost about 5€? dont know... but it isnt much.
