fraggie no offence but I can tell your reasonable new to this game.

The bottom line is that claok is never reliable, people with high gamma (bright screens, sometimes flashlights, some types of gfx card etc etc this list goes on) can all see cloakers to some extent.

Try adapting your play to use ambush and stealth teechniques, which means to stay hidden and undetected without using cloak.

try reading my guide on basic alien play and skulking.

Don't walk into people with cloak then. You still have to be careful.

well its still a exploit... maybe make so the flash light has to be lit for a minimum of 10 secs or something...

know a few servers (mostly dod servers) that bann gamma-sploiters...

I totally agree. Flashlights are way too easily exploitable. This must be stopped.

I also recommend that Marines get Nukes because it is way too hard to siege.

i can see a cloaker without flashlight or upping my gamma.. so, i dont see what your complainging about... its not supposed to make u completely invisible, so i think its viable.

Why? I don't see the problem. Marines can use their flashlight to light their way, and someone to see cloakers.... anyway it is difficult. But why whine? Aliens have a ot of tricks..... the alien flashlight is much more better than the marines one.

Well that's clever. So clever it's impossible. Gamma settings cannot be read by the server, and if they're locked, you can't exploit them.

    AFAIK. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

If you were a marine with a flashlight who knew that it made the enemy's stealth technology flicker, I think you would use it. It's hardly exploititive. Besdies, you should never be cloaked in FRONT of a marine. The idea is to creap up behind, be on the ceiling, or be on a wall.

*WALKING HEAD ON TO SOMEONE WITH CLOAK WILL GET YOU KILLED. DON'T TRY IT.*

    Just advice.

If you're pointing within the flashlight CoF at him, you might as well spotshoot. Whats the big difference? 2 bullets? Weeeeeee.

They seem to have fixed 100% cloaking so that it's completely invisible. Potential Hive locations are 100% cloaked to Marines, but in previous versions there were visible to Marines in well-lit areas. (ie. Eclipse Marine Start) Players never 100% cloak, to my knowledge, but perhaps they should.

anyway, if a marine is using his flashlite he isnt focused on his gun so just run down and bite him.

I think we should take Cloaking to the next level. Instead of invisible skulks walking around, they should appear as Marines crawling animalistically on the floor. When they stop on the floor, they stand up straight.

Yeah, but then someone's going to use their flashlight...

    AHHH SKULK!
    (/notserious)

EDIT for lack of Sarcasm Factor:

My God, the flashlight is illuminating dark places and making aliens who hide easier to see? How could've this one slipped by us for this much time. Obviously they got it wrong when they implemented the flashlight in NS, clearly this is exploitive and doesn't follow the concepts behind using a flashlight.

Cloaking isn't a replacement for good positioning. Ambushing, waiting on the ceiling, waiting in the dark, attacking in numbers, are all as important if not more than cloaking. Cloaking is just there for the marine to realize in that half second "ohnoes there was a skulk cloaked in that... *chomp*"

Motion tracking makes cloack pretty useless unless you are camping or moving so fast mo-track cant keep up.

    Cloaked skulks aren't always 100% invisible - it depends on number of SC's ( doesn't it? ).

Cloaking negates Motion tracking, making it useless.

Cloaking negates motion tracking for aliens at or below 10% Visibility I believe.

    Checking...

Doesn't say in Changelog, but Turrets don't fire at aliens with < 10% Visibility.
    SC Cloak negates MT though.

EDIT: Feel free to correct me as I just play the game (ever since babblers) and I don't analyze the game.
