You tell it to move in a direction, it moves, not; You move in a direction. There is a disconnected feeling there that is the major source of complaint with Point and Click games.
Yeah, it doesn't come close to FPS style controlling, but most of the movement issues arise from latency... If it wasn't for PvP, they could have done it clientside I guess, but it would be rather easy to be unhittable then. No projectiles are homing, and melee attacks are kind of hard to connect to someone if they aren't standing where they seem to be standing.
Also note that unlike WoW, facing means next to nothing so getting behind people to bypass their parry & dodge doesn't work and there's no interrupt skills that require good timing like kick/counterspell.
Not sure why but I find GW's controls clunky and irritating :/

Pretty much describes how i feel about GW in general really.

Long Answer: WoW tends to create a much stronger sense of immersion because, melee-wise at least, when you score a hit it's because you lined up your target and you have that feel of physically connecting with the target. At least I feel that way. GW on the other hand, feels sort of like the enemy is really a giant rectangle and as long as you hit, no wait correction, as long as your character hits within the rectangle, which it automatically will because misses are determined randomly and have no correlation with having a weapon physically make contact with the enemy, you score a hit. That's what I mean by disconnectedness, at least an exaggerated version of it. But it gives you the general idea.
no you're right tycho, it does have click to move as well. It has both control types but it's rather obviously built as a click to move system with the WASD controls tacked on :s

No... but there's an "event" once every month, which you can join if you have a code. It's entered the last stages though, so during this and the next event(after which it is released) you need to preorder if you want a key.
And facing makes a difference Gem.
I don't like the "standard RPG stuff" any more than you do.
