Oh, wait. That female marine would be awsome in NS movie! It is possible to make a map for the movie, read the dialouges and somehow convert this high poly female into it (yes, in impossible way), or use even a different motor.
getting 250,000 polys to render realtime on a modern computer isnt a problem, its just that the hl engine was never designed to do it. if you used to play on the ns armslab marine vs marine combat facility, with the glow shell on everything, the e_polys frequently went over 500,000, and in extremely rare occasions on huge maps, i have seen 1,000,000 being rendered on screen. of course my vid card and cpu were having a terrible time and i was getting like 45 fps (on my old athlon 1700 and radeon 9600)
but if one model takes up 250,000 polygons, that number multiplies to some outrageous number, imagine 16 marine players with models that had that many polygons, that would no doubt crash the hl engine from an internal overflow.
if something like this were to be used in a future game, i would suggest that you do like the tfc2 guys are doing and have detail falloff over long distances. that would reduce the load significantly.

Looks to me like you made the arms too chunky towards the shoulder. Also if you were to put her in-game would you have her running around with her helmet hitched up like some sort of neochav? or would you get rid of the helmet and make her a kickass ****.
If you don't mind I'd like to know what colour she paints her nails, and if she'll be running around with one glove on and one off. Actually you could make the gloves fingerless to give her a more feminine edge. Everyone (including me, save the fact that I suggested it) would probably bark on about how her hands would get dissolved by acid and toxic gases, but it might work aesthetically speaking.

the hl engine CAN render it, it just wasnt designed for it, therefore it chokes.

under 500.000 in that picture and your telling me NS was rendering 1.000.000 in its uber low polygon map and your comp was only going at 45fps?

nope, the hl engine was rendering over 500,000 most of the time. the reason it was so high was because it was rendering the already existing e_polys from the models, then multiplied it 2 times because it had to render the exact same number of polygons for the glow shell. then you stack the w_polies on top of that (which were usually 1000+)
the hl engine CAN render it, it just wasnt designed for it, therefore it chokes.
let's get back to the details of this model.

our pointman wears the holster on her front... thats actually better for her as pointman who
got the sd5 or m1 the most time anyways on the back ..

I think she plays paintball. I don't know if sb told you that females are not allowed in american SWAT teams! That's one of the points why SWAT the movie was very unrealistic.
maybe she's in a gun club or stuff like that.
I just know that I can carry my weapon legally when I finished my education at the police academy =)
and i didnt know that about SWAT, seems sorta, wierdi guess since females are allowed in the Military.....
ye softguns are really cool! I have a H&K P8 myself and I'm happy with it =)
