fedora core 3 is the only linux distro that stock configured, hlds doesnt have any issues starting up. i have tried debian, mandrake, redhat, yellowdog, ect. and all of them have some sort of problem. example, metamod wouldnt work, or some random plugin wouldnt work.
If I wanted to start out using linux, what would be a good version to start with? Since I've never used linux before, clear instructions that are difficult to screw up with would be good for setting it up.

if you just looking for something to mess around with, suse or mandrake would be a good start. i dont know why people say fedora sucks, i find it the best distro for hlds for linux.
