  i.e. System info, OS, circumstances under which the fatal error occurs etc.

  Update to the newest drivers for everything that you have. Make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date.
  
  Use Windows Update and go pick up some security patches.
  
  Increase your pagefile or let Windows manage it for you.
  
  Upgrade your RAM and double it. At the <i>least</i>.
  
  I'd suggest updating all your drivers first. Report back with new findings.

  I'm getting one which is consistenly showing up after installing ns 3.0
  
  Fatal error message is as follows :
  
  Could not load C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\xxx\half-life\ns\cl_dlls\client.dll
  
  I went to the folder in question and yes, the client.dll is indeed there.
  
  I'm going to try nuking the whole \ns folder and reinstalling and see if that fixes it.
