Playing Ns With Cs Steam

How do I install etc.?
Ok, heres the deal:

Used to play NS a while back (when it first came out) but stopped as I grew a little bored of the FPS genre, and got into RPG games.

Now I am back, but I have a problem. I registered my HL, Blue Shift, and Opp Force CDs in Steam, about the time when it first came out, and I do not know the account username or password anymore. Normally, I could have used the email facility to have them mailed to me, but the email addy I registered them under has been discontinued (switched ISPs). So there is no way of getting it back.

I asked around on the Steam forums, but didn't get much help. I emailed Steam itself, got an automated reply on 08/31/2004, no word since...

So I resigned to the fact that my HL CD will never be used again, and decided to purchase CounterStrike over Steam. Downloaded it, installed it, all fine.

Now, is there any way for me to install NS on this Steam version of counterStrike?
I tried following some instruction I found for CS Retail, but the program paths are idfferent for the Steam version.

Any help on this would be appreciated

well, if u have a virgin cs cd key and registered it, you will also notice it comes with hl1, team fortress, opposing force, and all other craps. if you want play ns, what u need is hl1. install it over steam, and open the game (play it if u want), and close it. this creates a semi-game directory. then u dl ns from official website. then install ns, it should install in hl1 of the steam folder. got it?

the point is if u buy cs with cd key, it comes with all the craps on steam (except hl2 craps and condition zero).

I don't have a CS CD. I bought it over Steam, downloaded it, and that was that.
I think with the deal I got a trial of CS:S before HL2 came out, CS, CS:Z and CS:Z Delted Scenes.

    That was all.

    you bought CS:CZ, not CS

you are screwed, CS:CZ doesn't suport HL mods.

buy HL2 Silver or Gold or Buy HL1.

You cant play ns on a cs key, you need to have half-life.

If you can play Half-Life 1, then you can play NS. If you can't play HL1, then you can't play NS. It doesn't matter what version you have, or you think you have. That's the only requirement.

Well you're wrong there, considering that all you need is a CS key to download Halflife1...

And all you need to play NS is a working steam copy of halflife (and a video card...)

HL1 is so outdated I am thinking it should be free for download anyways... although that would indirectly make several other games free. Maybe HL1 will become free when HL2 has more of a player-base.
