The Legend Of Zelda 2005? (gates Of The Realm)

This seems to be the new Zelda game comming out for Gamecube, I'm not sure if it's real or not. But this game looks awsome, I've always enjoyed the Zelda series except windwaker, it was only one that was dissapointing. It was still a good game but I didn't enjoy the cell-shaded design. Tell me what you all think of this, perhaps this is fake.

I know the upcoming zelda game is real but I don't think the pictures I provided are real.

I already brought my gamecube back to EB Games because it was too big a dissapointment. As much as I'll might miss playing this game, oh well then.

Eugh Zelda. I don't like Zelda purely for the reason that for many many many years I thought Zelda was the little elf dude. I mean the games are called Zelda and theres always pictures of him.

    Link my ****.

The GC will go down in history as the console with the most 'love it or hate it' games ever. I loved Wind Waker - really enjoyed the style. Ah well, let's see how this one fares. I'm pretty faithful the graphics are genuine - they are very good, but not over-the-top, next generation great.

Yeah, those graphics were wonderful a few years ago... But now they seem a bit dated. :/ Won't stop me from playing it, though.

Last night I had a dream that I was playing that game, and I was fighting Twinrova (the best boss/bosses ever created), and the super duper effects were AMAZING!

I am sure that my dream was somehow very close to the real thing.

My beef with Wind Waker were the long, tedious sailing sections. If that's avoided in this one, it should be good.
  • ElderwyrmElderwyrm Join Date: 2003-04-07 Member: 15296Members
I quite enjoying being out on the open seas.

It really just made it epic instead of feeling like your in a little box of a "world" ala The Ocarina of Time (which I also loved)

Yeah, I know what you mean. You need a pretty hefty discipline early on, cartographing every section of the sea, to keep the game from falling into shatters once you start retrieving the Triforce. This was why it took me two attempts to complete it, but all in all, it was worth it.

The trouble is that it also made getting from A to B really tedious. It eventually annoyed me too much, so I stopped playing. A shame, because otherwise, it's top-notch. I may be in the minority, but I loved the visual style.

It's odd that it was this way; Big N are usually quite good at keeping the gameplay crisp. Morrowind (probably one of the only other games with such a big gameworld) had a good transport system to stop getting around becoming such a slog.

I haven't beat windwaker yet, I'm collecting the triforce shards and it takes forever to sail the seas with your tiny boat.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
You can get a special song that lets you teleport to pretty much all the important spots.

But still, I thought the sailing was kinda cool. It definitely made the world more real, imo.

Spoiler warning... just in case anybody cares.
Go ahead, highlight it, you know you want to!

After you get the bow, locate the insanely huge cyclone that used to show up and annoy you every so often on the high seas. Find the little midget-god-thingy floating on a cloud inside it and spew a few arrows his way. In fact, you need to do this to complete the game. There is one place where you absolutely need to warp to in order to collect some vital items.

I wonder if these quasi-wannabe-spoiler tags will work.

Anyway, I liked the seas. I just found it fun to kind of float on, and then run into an island that I didn't know existed just to see what's going on there. In fact, I never used the warp-song-doo-hickey but once, when it was vital.

Does that mean the full game title is unconfirmed.
(Gates Of The Realm - is that right?)

I was offered a GameCube and The Wind Waker (brand new)
for £40 a few weeks back but I didn't have the cash to hand
so I went home and cried I've finished The Wind Waker but
£40 is one hell of a bargain.

Last I heard (and this was something I read within a week ago), the title of the new Zelda game had not been revealed, nor had the theme of it been revealed.

    So I dunno. :/

Yes, the *Spoiler* mentioned above was great part in aiding you on the high seas. The warps really made it alot less tedious when you can teleport nearly half way most of the time.

I always made sure to find the fish in whatever zone I entered. I wanted to have a complete map.

The sailing was kind of tedious, but not as much as people usually complain that it is. You here crazy estimates like "30% of the game even with the warps!" and whatnot. I remember reading something buy a guy who got fed up with all of it and ran through the game all over again and recorded how long he spent sailing vs how long he spent doing something else, IIRC it came out to about 3% sailing.

The graphics aren't unbeliveable in this day and age any more. But the game still looks like boxed PWN!

Oh I remeber that little midget guy on the tornado, He's very annoying. Especially when you're trying to avoid him.

I'd say the GC is pretty much like the N64.. not many exclusive games, but those that do exist kick so much ****.

And yeah, the music in that trailer sounds like a midi. There was a more theatrical trailer a looong time ago with some really nice dark Latin stuff.

Then again, he had already played through the game before, so he knew where to go. That would cut down on time wasted, especially if he got the warp song as early as possible.

But it's clearly a matter of taste. The entire affair of sailing was dull, and it broke up the gameplay for me. Someone else might not have minded. *Shrug*
