of course! Great for convenience and skill. Though most of my scripts are for convenience (i.e. class specific binds, build binds, etc). But pistol and wiggle scripts have helped my skill game too.

That should get you started. It includes everything from two different pistol scripts and a wiggle walk, to quickattack and quickswitch settings. It uses almost every key on the keyboard.

Scripts are most useful on aliens, for example a skulk.gif leap script.

These are the only scripts I define as usfull to make you more skillfull over time.
Leap-bite, blink-swipe will make you suck on no scripting servers.

Wiggle walk can give you and advantage so unfair that its not fun anymore...a heavy armor isnt supposed to walk faster than and onos, or a marine about same speed than a skulk. I could consider that a hax, I use it when others do, thats it.

    and pistol script:

Anything else you would have to change your playing style and get used to, which is something that would hinder your skill, momentary or not.

I think everyone would agree that bunnyhoping gives you much more of an advantage than wiggling ever will. I have a wiggle script that allows me to run faster than a skulk with my knife out, so in theory, it sounds good right? In reality it is of little use in pubs, and even less use in scrims/matches. Sure its nice to outrun a walking skulk, but how many walking skulks do you encounter in a clan scrim/match or even a pub now a these days? Sure its nice to get to Cargo, Chem Trans, etc before the skulks do, but what's the point if you're the only one there?

i use this for fading, it metabol's while you hold the button and when you let go it goes back to blink. Very useful.

sure scripts help your game... but it just dosen't give you the satisfaction of actually doing the stuff without scripts. its like you feel inferior to those who can actually do those stuff without scripts. but binding your keyboard to the max is good and efficient... dosen't have to be scripts, just normal commands.

That's your opinion too based on your own morals; good for you. Now in my opinion, I like using scripts, like my weapon slot management script, because I see I can benefit from such a script. I see the innovation behind it, I have the knowledge to make it happen, and I write the script. To me, it's another tool the engine provides to tailor the game to my needs.

Now it's not like there are people going in to General Discussion trying to persuede the majority to use scripts and aliases. This section is for sharing information on scripts and aliases and not imposing your views on the frequented members to this forum section.

Scripting will make you better, but it will also make you reliant on scripts (depending on the script, of course). When you play without the scripts, you will be worse than you would if you had never started scripting in the first place. I don't know of any scripts that will actually make you *better* as a player. They all take your base skill and build on it, but I think they actually reduce your base skill as you become dependant on them.

Not so much reduce as make you forget it. The scripts will help your reaction times (many commands to one button), etc., but, as you get used to them, you will forget how to play without them. They do not reduce skill, just your familiarity with the default controls.

3hop is all I really use, not much purpose in the others since I have lastinv on mouse5

the script to turn voice and text communication off is handy in combat

oh, and romano's lastinv script, since I got used to it, but it takes a bit to get the nuances of it

i use 2jump bound to mwheeldown
a leap script that i gotta get used too
a fade script that switches between blink and swipe only (q does this, kinda like lastinv)
a meta script bound to mouse2

    thats basically it i think

the meta script really really helps me a lot metaing in the air and not disturbing my blink/swipe.

It's the same with scripting. If you are using scripts as a cruch, then you won't get any better at the game, you will just lean on your scripts to make you decent. If you are using scripts to supplement your game, then there's no problem.

This would be true if scripts simulated quality skills, they dont.

Scripts perform rather pathic actions. Main examples:

Someone uses a script to time jumps, someone else uses mwheel. The player with the script does not envy the player who utilizes mwheel. The ability to roll the mwheel is hardly skillfull. Except maybe the fact that the mwheel player can go onto nub pubs and kill noobs.

Someone uses a pistol script instead of smashing the button. Again, smashing the button is hardly a skill to envy.

I use small icons on my windows start menu. Do you envy me because they are harder to click on than large ones? I once heard of a guy who had even SMALLER start menu icons. I envy his ability. I dont think I could click on such minut icons.

I disagree with this. I couldn't shoot my pistol for crap before I started using my pistol script. In an effort to exploit the Rof cap to the fullest, I still smash the hell out of my mouse. This has trained me to fire much faster on bs_1 servers. I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but it sure surprised me.

That double shot Pscript, and the 3jump script are pretty much the only useful scripts. Other than that it's entirely prefrence.

The most important console command you can enter is "hud_fastswitch 1"

Just a warning- leap/bite or blink/swipe scripts are entirely useless once you realize what the heck you're doing. Stay far away from those, they'll get you into a straight line mentality and you're just going to own yourself due to lack of control.

And I can't stress this enough, but no amount of scripts in the world will compare to just having a good computer. Scripts help lower end computers FAR more than upper end, as much of this game is FPS dictated. It's not only possible, but I'd say "easy" to bhop useing spacebar without scripts- 100 fps given. So if you play on an already powerful computer, don't expect much to change at all in one's abilities due to most scripts (wigglewalk being the exception- far better on a good computer, and really not humanly possible to go as fast as a good computer will make you.) If you play on a poor computer, you'll be in for a pleasent surprise, as control becomes much easier.

I really wish people would stop with this "dependent on scripts" crap. I've been using the 2shot for quite a while and I use it because I suck at mashing mouse1 on my mouse. With the script I can shoot almost as fast as the people that can mash the button, and without it I still suck. How does this make me dependent? It helps me to be sure but if anything it shows how helpful scripts are and how they can help you even out your game.

I can never understand how people complain about other people owning them all the time by bunny hopping or using a 2shot, when they can just as easily do it and get better at the game. "I'm a casual gamer so instead of taking the time to get better I'm just going to **** about how you are cheating at the game."
