so it must end up looking like steam/steamapps/email/half-life/ns
updated steam?
1) Install Steam (Get the one with the HL cash if you can), if you have already installed Steam you may skip this step
2) Play HL Via Steam (just load up the training mission and then quit)
3) Search Your Hard Drive for NS and NSP
4) Deleate ALL Folders with these names.
4a) If you have a previously working install of an earlier version that you wish to keep: You can rename all NS folders to NSBUP and leave the NSP Folders alone.
4b) If you have a previous install of NS, and wish to keep your configs, cimply copy your .cfg filles (normaly just config.cfg and userconfig.cfg, to your desktop)
5) Close Steam.
6) Run the Beta 5 installer (ns_install_v3_b5.exe)
6a) Point the installer at Steam\SteamApps\Your@email\Half-Life
6b) If you backedup your config files, now is the time to move them to your NS folder.
7) Launch Steam
8) Change your filters so that the point at Natural Selection(Beta 5) Instead of Natural Selection (Beta)
9) Connect and play.
10) If you get any errors (map.bsp, client.dll, or ANYTHING:
a) Search your HDD for NS, there should only be a dir called NS in your Steam\SteamApps\Your@email\Half-Life\NS, unless you backed up a previous install.
b) If it is ANYWHERE elese, try moving it to the correct place, or simply deleate it and start again.
If you still get map.bsp errors, or client.dllrors, start from step 3 again.
If you are POSITIVE that you hvae folowed the directions correctly, then redownload ns_install_v3_b5.exe from another location.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
read the thing I posted.
HL2 is not enough.
And that is it Verbatim. inside hobophobic is my hl2, hl2 deathmatch, cs:s and codename gordon folders (which ALL work) They all show up in steam, they all work, and i have played them all. There are no other games that apear in steam. Just the ones that i have downloaded and installed. i dont see anything for half life one at all.
remember to give credit for peoples stuff (that was my guide <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
SeTTs, look in the half-life folder, tell me what you see in there?
als ohow did you install HL?
the way to do it is simply oping up the play games menu and double clicking on HL (it will be there, no matter what, if it is grey then do it anyway and it will d/l the latest version for you). If it asks for a CD key give it the one from your jewl case.
if you realy can't get this.
then head over to the Steam forums and ask them how to install HL.
in the half life folder i am seeing the following folders: DMC, NS, TFC, Valve, logos, gldrv.
Below the files are a bunch of the files that you get when you update hl.
now, let me look in the steam window (under play games of course)
ill quote it verbatim for you.

Hl was installed via my hl1 Cd, purchased in 1998 when the game came out. My cd key also does not work due to the fact that it has been stolen vie a key gen.
I installed hl1 directly to the file named Hobophobic (the e-mail addy) Afterwars i downloaded and installed and updated it from version 1.0.0.0 or whatever to the newest version. Played the hazard course to make sure it worked and then installed NS.
From what i have read so far this is exactly what i am supposed to do (unless i am not supposed to install the update not through steam)
Hl, NS, DMC, or flying monkey shart do not show up in my steam window. I believe i will be hanging out in the steam forums for a bit now cuz the computer gods are **** in my ear.
1. Start up Half-Life. Load the Training Map. Once it finishes loading, exit Half-Life.
2. Install NS to steam/steamapps/email/half-life. It should create a folder like this: steam/steamapps/email/half-life/ns. Inside that NS folder should be a bunch of files and folders (for example: steam/steamapps/email/half-life/ns/addons). Make sure it is not steam/steamapps/email/half-life/ns/ns.
Then Natural Selection (beta 5) should be an option in the Play Games menu in Steam.
i've followed it very carefully ,steam will not show up my NS,have all the files in the correct folders, ow stuff it i give up NS you just lost a player crap insyall.
